My mom has multiple sclerosis and recently went through COVID, which led to post-COVID viral meningitis. Her legs are now completely paralyzed. She’s currently in a treatment program, receiving Ocrevus, but now they are giving her Bioven as well. Unfortunately, her condition is still quite bad. Do you have any suggestions on what else we could do to help her?

I'm so sorry to hear what your mother is going through. I didn't even know such a thing was possible, so I'm afraid I don't have any practical advice. But I will pray for your mom. 🙏
Unfortunately I cannot offer any suggestions apart from keeping her sprit up 😢 make sure she has something to smile about each day, if you have the energy to so. Give her something to look forward to in an attempt to stop her becoming depressed or feel like she doesn't have a reason to live or feel like a burden. That's all I can suggest 🫂
What a great suggestion. When we have something to look forward to, even the roughest times can be made just a little easier - and that can make all the difference.
It does make all the difference! Like when I was in hospital for 27 days back during the covid lockdown of 2021, the fact that I could walk myself to the main entrance and meet my husband for the 1 or 2 hours at night made my stay more sufferable. The excitement of being able to go and see the husband, of being able to safely go down the sloped corridor back to my ward (managed to walk my manual up there) and the act of being able to be back on my feet after having a few methylprednisolone drips 👌 I think it was mostly being able to see husband, and my MS nurse calling me up to tell me I'm going on ocrevus 😅
Wow! Those are some really substantial hurdles - and achievements! - you've mentioned. I'm glad you did so well despite being hospitalized during the Covid lockdown, too. Methylprednisolone can work magic, and I say that as someone who's only taken it in pill form - so those drips must've seemed magical! I hope you do well and feel great.
I am doing well, and I'm feeling great! Just another couple of weeks until my next ocrevus infusion, and I'm taking methylprednisolone tablets on an as-needed basis so I don't fudge my bloods up while also being able to have longer times of being "normal" during the day. Yesterday, I managed to last until midnight, having a night of drinking and fun with friends, even though I didn't take any methylprednisolone 😁
I'm thrilled that you're already benefiting from the Ocrevus! That you were able to get out and about is great evidence that you're improving, and I know your friends must've been so glad to see you 👍👍👍.
I was always there to see and meet up with them, it was just I was confined to a wheelchair 90% of the time 😬 it was amazing last year where I had my wedding 2 weeks after an infusion, and I was able to walk with just my stick! I know I'm in a wheelchair in my profile pic, but I only took it as a just in case 😜 that's the man who walked me down the aisle, my mum's partner, not my husband in the pic
