Today was my 6 month appt with my Neuro. I told her about a horrible breakthrough migraine I had over the past weekend. I am to take 800mg of Ibroproferin. She sent a prescription for Sumatriptan to my pharmacy that I could take if it happens again. If it happens again, and the ibroproferin doesn't work in 2 hours, I can take the Sumatriptan. If the Sumatriptan doesn't work in 2 hours, I can take another one.
I also told her about pain I was getting in my left arm sometimes when I lift my arm. She said it is most likely muscle strain. If it gets any worse let her know and she will order PT. My neck has been hurting lately as well, and she said to make sure that my computer monitor and phone are level with my eyes. If the pain gets worse she can order PT for that. I used to see a chiropractor for it but I haven't been in about 3 years after my grandpa's passing. I may make an appt and go back for an adjustment and maybe a massage...decisions.
My yearly MRI was also ordered and about 30-45 mins after I got home from my appt the scheduling dept called me and I have an appt in a few weeks. This time it will be only 2 scans instead of 3.
Think today was a good appointment.

I'm glad you had a good appointment, bxrmom. Pain is never good, but that headache sounds really terrible. I hope the meds do the trick for you! Hope you get relief from your neck and arm pain, too.
It does sound like a good appointment! Isn’t it wonderful to have a doctor that listens to you?! My daughter is blessed with a very caring neurologist as well. I hope your MRI goes well and you can get in quickly. We never wait more than 5 days for an appointment, usually less. Sending you good wishes for your pain to resolve!
They actually called about 30 mins or so after I got home from my appt and I have an appt in 3 weeks! Usually they don't even call for at least a week after my appt with the Neuro.
That is so fortunate! Migraines are terrible and since this one is out if the ordinary for you, I’m glad your neuro wants to follow up with the MRI. Good luck!
Thank you. Acutally the MRI is for my yearly MRIs but they may show something for the migraines as well...we shall see. She gave me the option of doing them every other year but I told her I like to do them yearly just in case.
bxrmom glad you had a good appointment! 🧡I used to get migraines all the time. Had one that lasted 3 months! That is when I switched to my current neuro. I was on Sumatriptan for a while, there is a limit on how many you can take in a week, I just don't remember what it was. Hope you don't get any more bad migraines, they suck!!
Thanks. I usually don't get migraines anymore with the meds my Neuro has me on. It was strange to have one that broke through the meds and it was a bad one. It will be nice to have the meds on hand just in case. Just checked my insurance website and it looks like they are working on filling the prescription.
