I'd asked for a sandwich maker for Christmas, and Santa didn't disappoint me! I finally used it today, and I'm in love. π€ͺ I've always been partial to grilled cheese as a comfort food, but I can't make them to save my life. They either burn or haven't cooked by the time I run out of patience. I did cheese and chipped ham on sourdough bread tonight, and it was the best sandwich I've had in a long time!
Plug it in, wait a couple minutes for the green light to come on, and place your prepared sandwich inside. Close the lid and start watching the clock. Depending on the sandwich, it takes 3-5 minutes to turn golden brown. Clean-up's nothing more than wiping it down with a damp rag. No more standing over a hot stove or trying to calculate the right temperature. It weighs very little and can be stored upright, taking no more space than your average hardback book. No more cold sandwiches when I'm too tired to cook!
(For those interested, this one is Proctor-Silex and runs around $20 at Walmart. They have another variation that makes sealed triangles, if you prefer turnovers or sandwiches that you can just grab and run with. I could have used one of those when my kids were little. This one can hold 2 sandwiches made from standard sandwich slices or 1 sandwich made with a larger artisanal loaf.)
