hello friends,

I am in a wheelchair and also have a Foley catheter. That means that I have a leg bag during the day. Since this is new to me I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle long pants. In the summer I’m wearing shorts so it’s easy. Does anybody have any tips for handling a leg bag with long pants? Thanks

I have no experience with this and am grasping at straws, but is it possible to remove a side seam from a pair or two or then fasten them shut with velcro?

There are sources for clothing for the disabled: shirts that wrap and close with velcro, etc. If you search online or contact MSAA , you may find sources offering pants with similar features. In the meantime, perhaps baggy sweats would meet your needs.

On Amazon you can find clothing that holds foley bags.

Hi again: did a quick online search for adaptive clothing for wheelchair users and found many sites. Here are two to give you a start: kineticbalance.com, silverts.com. The latter has a pair of men's side zip pants with catheter access that might meet your need.

I have a friend with a catheter. He wears an ankle bag with his long pants. It allows him to empty it easily without removing his pants. He just puts his foot on the toilet and pulls up his pant leg. He has been known to drain it in some odd places. But it’s very easy for him to do and not messy. I hope this helps.

I should add that the tube is held to the leg by soft Velcro strips.
