I received my prescription of dalfampridine from usps in an opened package with a piece of packing tape from usps that says received in damaged condition (the package). I am unsure whether or not to trust it. I’ve contacted my doctor, usps, and cost plus drugs (who i can oly communicate with by email). All contacts say i need to speak with cost plus drugs, the people who sent it. They won’t answer me! Any advice? My doctor said she’d probably just take the medication-

It's probably okay, but I wouldn't trust it. I'd rather err on the side of caution with something I'm going to ingest. Then again, my kids tell me I'm paranoid! Unfortunately, if no one's going to replace it for you, you're kind of between a rock and a hard place.
Well....
I think you're right to be cautious,
But envelopes often do split in transit.
My advice would be to check the bottle very carefully, compare it to the last one if you have had it before. Does it have your name on it? If the label is all correct and the seal on it is unbroken it's probably OK, but if there is anything wrong or suspicious with the label or the seal, don't take it. Also check that the tablets are the shape, size and colour that you expect.
If anyone was deliberately sending you a fake to harm you, surely they'd have the sense to pack it properly?!😜
The only way I would consider taking a medicine. If there was an additional seal on the bottle itself and the seal was untampered with. Call the drug company back and leave the lovely message that since they will not answer you, you're calling the Food and Drug Administration for their opinion on the topic. And to see if they have had any previous complaints about their company before.
And on a secondary note, I would take the pills packaged just like they came to you, the next time you go in to see your regular doctor. Then I would ask her to give her spouuse or child, their next prescription that shows up in the mail that is taped like yours was. If she starts to squirm, stutter, or won't look you in the eye, you know you got her!!
That should tie both their shoes in knots, not to mention their stomachs!! Fancy59.😁
great ideas!!
I emailed the drug company multiple times and finally responded that they are sending a replacement. In retrospect, it would be crazy to exprct me or anyone to take the medication!
Idk if u read my previous reply to kit10 but i was mistaken when I thought my doctor recommended i take the meds, she had written that she would NOT take them
The USPS uses sorting machine that tear up packages, magazine, letters. I once received a box with scorch marks. My mortgage check was once returned to me with a note saying it had been found on the floor (where? no idea). If the container itself isn't damaged, the contents are probably safe and you can trust them.
CVS Caremark and other online pharmacies (I haven’t seen anything about Cost Plus specifically) have come under scrutiny because of their shipping practices. Especially for not following manufacturers guidelines for temperature control. This is a problem for people who are forced to use online pharmacies by insurance companies or who are seeking alternatives to higher priced drugs. Here’s a link to see more. Loretta Boesing has been lobbying state lawmakers to pass legislation to protect patients.
DO NOT TAKE IT! 1. Could have been tampered with. 2. Could have been exchanged by someone. It was open, It’s the pharmacies responsibility to ship meds in a discrete, safe manner. No indication of what’s in the package & No Pharmacy name on the return label.
Search online for their #. They don’t want to talk to people. Go to your States Pharmacy Board Website (ex: pharmacy.texas.gov) HAVE to be assessable to patients I’ve worked pharmacy for 30 years. Keep after them.
Sorry. I should’ve read the comments first. You’ve already got it. Glad it’s ok now. By the by, Pharmacy’s don’t worry with the FDA. They don’t want to hear from the pharmacy board. Pharmacy Boards of any state are just waiting for pharmacies to screw up. Then they can collect all the fines.
I've received items in packaging that was damaged with the same tape on it. As it's "official" tape I would trust it. If it was taped with other kinds of tape, then I wouldn't.
