Where I'm located in MI, we received rain last night followed by a few inches of snow. Luckily we have someone that plowed and shoveled. The wind is really blowing now and the sidewalk is now recovered with snow. It is currently 0 and feels like -22 degrees. We do have a winter storm warning until 1am tomorrow. Whiteout conditions expected at times due to falling and vlowing snow. Accumulation of 4-10 inches by Sunday morning. Wind gusts as hight as 50 mph. Wind chills of -15 expected!
That is what I plan to do. I bundled up to go to the mailbox to get a couple small packages that were delivered and that wind is evil. Going to run the water on low so the pipes don't freeze up.
That was very kind of them. Usually our mailman brings boxes (large packages) up to the house but with the cold and wind he probably figrued if he could get it into the mailbox he would do that. It was deep into the box that I had to reach to pull it out.
Hey Jes Wow. I thought we had harsh winters in NY. 32 now. going down to 10. Lots of wind but no snow which is a four letter word in my terms. Stay warm everyone!
Iβm sending you some warm thoughts! We went through that yesterday and it was not fun. Iβm hoping your power stays on and you can be toasty warm. Merry Christmas, sister!
Let see the latest nonsense is: negative going outside and 30mph kiddos that have been cooped up forever and don't understand they can't go see the tiny dusting of snow because their faces would burn off.
In hopeful news,we might actually get some snow to kick around Mon to make up for this tease.
The worst is behind us, so I hope it's ending for you also! Kept power, the sleepover was a little wild with a flashlight party π€£ Now we are enjoying a 3rd toddler in the mix and enjoying a beautiful family celebration this Christmas!
It's 13 right now but started at 1 with the wind chill at -12 this morning. We don't normally get this kind of weather & it's freezing!!!! Just breathing that cold air hurts. This is the first time I have ever been in this kind of weather. There are power outages all over, but luckily it hasn't hit us. Stay warm everyone!
I live in Riverside, CA. Our high today was 72 degrees. We're supposed to have highs around 80 degrees the next three days. And we've had no wind at all.
Reporting in from west Chicagoland. Got up early to below zero temps, and the "big blizzard" which wound up being too little, too light snow, not enough to start up the just prepared/started and readied the big snow blower, and opted for the extra wide, light shovel. But did have to gather up all the blown away furniture, that I thought had been secured with lots of 25# lead weights wired to them. The winds were just too much, Got up early to brave the cold and wind, as winds were only going to increase throughout the day. Dressed with long underwear, heavy shirt, sweater, snowmobile suit, balaclava, heaviest gloves I could find, boots, Okay, I did not wear the "50 lb per foot" rubber snowmobile 1" thick felt ice fishing boots, and went for the lighter weight ones. But I made it out of the house! Shoveled our drive and sidewalk without even having to move the cars, as the wind cleared the snow from on/around them. Did our house, and the aged widow's houses just downwind from us. Why? The nice one, tries, but really can't. Love that she tries, and thanks, and thanks, and thanks when I help. The other, is just getting over covid after traveling to warm places just coming back from her ex's will settlement. So I braved it, survived it with only one thaw session back in the house. But it's done. -30Β° wind chills. Which only went colder when the winds picked up thereafter. And filled the bird feeders which was worth it watching birds thereafter trying to hand on to them to get a bite to eat as the feeders went sometimes almost sideways in the wind. All including me had fun fighting mother nature's cold. No heat exhaustion as in summer! So it was all good!
Take care and hopefully your power stays on π€πΌ. I seen Thursday that a lot of people there were grocery shopping and finishing up Christmas getting ready for the storm. Was watching news last night it looks brutal. Take care be safe and warm ππΌπππ
All the snow has pretty much blowen away and left a layer of ice. It says -8, l say cold is cold! π¨ Way to go on helping your neighbors, that was nice of you! And feeding the birds! π€ππ βοΈπ
