My Vitamin D Level usually range from 80-90. I take 50,000u Wkly . My doctor says the range is Ok over the last 2yrs. Just wondering does anyone have a level close to this. Also thinking about the longterm effects of such high levels. Thanks!

hi Jes, how did you find out you make excessive amounts and isn't there a difference between D2 and D3?

The goal for me is 60, and I stay 50-70. For me, that's not a high level, my labs are fine. It's also not a problem with vascular disease, supposedly, because my supplement contains vitamin K and I visit a float tank for magnesium weekly.

I don't know what my vitamin d level is but my neurologist has me on 50,000u of vitamin d2 once a week and said he will keep me on this all winter a reasses this in the spring. I am also doing vitamin b12 shots once a month. And he said that he night change that in the spring as well. I don't know what to think about it but and information about it will be appreciated.I hope that your levels star good for you and that for both our sakes that this 50,000u is not a problem. Prayers that all will be alright

Ok. Thanks for the info. I have been on same dose for awhile now and just wanted to get everyone else input. Don’t want to suffer from longterm effects or toxicity🙏🏾

wishing you well. there must be a way to test for toxicity. Isn't there a blood test?

Thanks. I usually get labs drawn every 3-6mths so it will tell. In the event just wanted to know some other ppl level to compare. After reading everything about the range it varies. Thanks🙏🏾

Neuro nurse practitioner wanted mine higher than 50s. Upped me to 7000IUs D3. Level jumped to 90. I was uncomfortable with this # and decreased back to 5k. 6 mos later still 90. Glad I decreased. Toxicity can start ? > 110. Watch for kidney stones, muscle aches, etc.

One of my concerns with Kidney Stones could develop with high levels. Thanks🙏🏾

one more thing. Does anyone know the difference between D2 and D3?

erash profile image
erash in reply to Sandydemop

I believe d2 converted to d3 by body…or is it the opposite? I forgot..

Will research and get back to u😊

Medicare refused to pay for my Vit D level testing. The lab charged me about $650 which I still have not completely paid off.

I have progressed so much in the last 5 years. I never paid attention to my levels until recently. Doctors did, but I did not. I just know how I feel now, which is horrible.

Check with your hospital billing department to see if they can help. My hospital did. I am VitaminD deficient.

i don't think i'd worry too much about your high dosage. it's actually dangerous for you not to take what you need. i was diagnosed with extremely low vitamin d. i've taken 14, 00 per week for the past 3 years and much more for 4 years before that. here's the thing. whatever you body can't use, you excrete, so no worries.

even though i took antidepressants, when my levels were super low, my pain was worse (i'm talking from 6 to a level 9 every day, ALL day), i was depressed, i had no energy. i mean playing with my hyper cat for 10 minutes was too much for me.

the good news is this is an issue that requires a vitamin, not another drug with horrible side effects. my mum is nearly twice my age. she takes 4 meds, 2 for blood pressure and cholesterol. i take 7 meds and 4 of them come with those long pamphlets that being, "you may be afraid to take such a strong medication, but your doctor feels the benefit to you far outweighs the risks." smh

and in a couple of weeks, you'll feel worlds better.🤗

Dr Giovannoni posted about ECTREMIS conference presentations. One was a study looking at giving vit D to people with CIS to see is would prevent new lesions. The people did not receive a DMT only vit D supplements in different amounts. It didn't help. His take away was vit D is still important for bone health and other health but not for MS. My neurologists have never wanted me to have high levels. My last level was 30 which is the low end of normal.

I hope this link works, I tried to copy and paste from his email to the vit D study

I just tried the link and it takes you to the list of all the abstracts presented at the conference. The vit D study is there a little way down the list

I struggle to stay above 30. This is with 50,000 ui. Years ago I was on injections of vitamin d. Was constipated for a year. I don't know my numbers when I was receiving injections.

Oh My!! At one point I was at 13 and I notice something was wrong and was diagnosed with MS at the same x. I’m not having a problem with the level or side effects. Just trying to get everyone thoughts on it. I’m thinking also if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. Enough issues going on with other things after thinking over the days. Thanks🙏🏾

Try powdered capsules. The gel caps are not absorbed by certain people. I can take a hundred gel capsules and my level goes no where. Injections don't last for me either. Pure encapsulations and Solgar make powdered capsules.

I was dx'd in 1998. In the last 5 years I have progressed to the point that I am scared. I switched Neurologists in May. I have a good one now. In May my Vitamin d was 22.

80-90 is perfect. I've had mine above 200 before for short periods. The side effect of being to high for too long might be kidney stones. The side effects of to low vitamin D3, at least for me is an MS attack. Sub-40 for me is an automatic MS attack. I test every 8 weeks to be sure.ive tested like that for 7 years now. For my MS, the range should be 60-130. I argue with my doctor about this all the time. The current range of 30-100, I believe,is to low for anyone.

JSSimp profile image
JSSimp in reply to palomino27

Ok. Thanks you for the information. Definitely don’t want to have an attack🙏🏾

I take 10,000 IU a day and I cannot get my numbers above 24 which is in the red. You have great vitamin d levels I have heard taken too much vitamin d is not good for you though.

JSSimp profile image

Ok. Praying your number comes up. I did speak with my Neurologist and he mention to continue dose because the level is good. So I proceed with the 50,000u as prescribed and just continue to monitor for changes.
