Ability expo

Today i went to the ability expo that is taking place in New Jersey. abilities.com/ It was interesting. I was hoping for more gadget type things for hands, easy on/off clothes etc. there were a few things i liked like vacations for people with mobility issues but i saw mostly wheel chairs and accessible cars. big ticket items. They had one scooter that you could take apart into 2 pieces and pop in the trunk for $2800 and one thousand dollars for the lift so you don't have to pick it up (35 lbs) to get it into the trunk. The lift weighs 22 pounds. So i don't know if i would recommend it. they had tables for the county, state disability agencies so maybe that will help someone. See for yourself. it's free. Masks were apparently optional.

It's good to know they have those fairs. I have been fortunate that I don't need much. I use a cane from time to time, and a cooling vest in the summer. The ice packs for my vest work great for late-night leg cramps too.

You get leg cramps late at night too? I have this searing pain that wakes me up. You put an ice pack on your leg? I thought i was the only one.

My thighs & calves will cramp up when I try to turn over & wake me up. It's the same sensation that a cat gets when scared & ends up on the ceiling. I keep an ice chest next to my bed with the ice packs. It relieves it almost instantly.

Thanks for giving us this update on the activity conference. I think they are more for kids, at least in the past, they’ve had a lot of climbing walls for disabled kids for example. The lift for the car, by the way, it doesn’t matter what it weighs. You won’t be lifting the lift. It lifts the item into the car.👍

but then what do you do with the lift?

You keep it in the back of your vehicle. It acts as a mini hook to lift the item off of the ground and into the vehicle so you don’t have to lift it your self.😀

they keep getting more oriented for the more severe. this time there were quite a few wheel chair booths. one for adapted bikes. several for adapted cars. to move the gas pedal to the left side: 3K. hand gas and brake: 8K

We have an Expo each year but I will not be going this year. My younger daughter's graduation is that day. (Masters!!!) I wouldn't miss it for the world.
