Stress Test Anyone?

I had to have a stress test today. It took 3 hours total. I had to have the nuclear test cuz there was no way I could do the treadmill. I hope I never have to have another one. It was so cold in the hospital to begin with then I had to drink an extra-large cup of ice water and we all know what that does! Three jabs before they got the IV in the right place, two CTs & the radioactive material they inject in for the CTs & the drug they inject that totally stresses you out. It actually opens up the arteries, but for a couple of minutes, it felt like an elephant put his foot on my chest but then eased up. It was kinda strange. So now I wait until 5/18 to get the results. I'm hoping it will tell the Dr what is causing the Afib to act up every day instead of once every couple of weeks. It wears me out when I don't do anything to be tired other than MS, it's a double whammy. As much as I don't like all the tests I'm glad they are available to try to find out what's wrong.

I’m sorry you had to go through this, but glad you were able to get the test done! My MIL had a cardiac ablation a few months ago for her a fib and it really helped her a lot. Hoping you can get back to some kind of normal soon ❤️🙏🏻

Oh hairbrain, what an experience. I often wondered what they did if you can’t do the treadmill. I wouldn’t be able to do either as the cold and ice would set off my restless leg and that would be a stress test in itself. I hope you can soon get sorted. I go for my echocardiogram today but it will be awhile before I will get any results. Take care and please let us know how you get on. Hope your eyes are doing well. 🤗

Thanks & my eyes are doing great! I hope they don't want to do a stress test on you either,. I had the echo which proved the AFib. The stress tests shows them what condition your heart is in. I had one on the treadmill in 2019 & my heart was ok. The next test would be an angiogram looking for blockages. I hope I don't have to go there.

They should be able to give you echocardiogram results pretty much immediately depending on where it’s done. The PA that did my test let me watch the screen - of ALL the tests I’ve ever had in my 74 years, this one effected me the most. To be able to see my own dear heart beatings as it has for all my life made me burst into tears. So strong, my life force - totally overwhelmed me. I recommend this test for all - painless and illuminating! And truly helpful from a diagnostic point….

Oh the world we live in!

My husband watched it and he said it’s amazing to say that my heart had been doing that action, pumping for 66 years. Truly fascinating 🧐 I couldn’t see.

Your doctor can show you….I’ve treasured my heart so differently since. Breathtaking!

I live in the U.K., they don’t freely let you see it. I will probably get the results via a telephone conversation.

Yes I've already had that one & I was in AFib at the time of the test. It was even in color! It was amazing to see & feel it at the same time.

Afib is scary. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this, and sorry as well about the painful and scary tests trying to find the cause.

Thanks! I just hope it stops at that test.

hairbrain4 it sounds wretched; I hope the results give you the direction you need to get to feeling better!

Thanks! It wasn't fun but some of the other tests they do aren't fun either! But if they can find out what's making worse & fix it, I'm all for it.

I'm with you on the "if it helps figure out what's wrong get it done!" part of testing!

Sorry you had to experience this but glad it's behind you now. We live in a wondrous time, medically. We think about the "good old days" but for We, with medical problems, I would not want to go back!

I agree they have come along way! Back in 2000 my husband started having heart related problems & the differences today & then are amazing.

I too had to go thru the "other" stress test.. I think the afib was a bit better than the test.. haha.. but 12 hrs of 310bpm wasn't fun either... anyway.. they found out what was doing it for me.. and fixed it.. so I am so glad.. but dang.. but I only have had to do one.. so hope this one was your only.. Best wishes for your results.. and prayers.. take care.. and Nice calm hugs to you..

🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗
