Spring in NM

Wednesday morning I woke up to 1/2 foot of snow.

Yesterday, I went out to get the mail, and all the ornamental fruit trees along my route were blooming.

Today, when I just checked the temp for my walk, it read 72 degrees F!

The only NOT Normal thing for Spring in NM: We are not experiencing our Realestate Exchange Season! My front yard hasn't blown in from Flagstaff, AZ, and my backyard hasn't blown to Amarillo, TX!

AND IF Y'all think I'm joking . . . Years ago when we lived in a different part of town, my partner and I planted wildflower seeds in the new flower bed in the front yard. They never grew--at least in OUR yard. About a mile east of our house, a neighbor was in his frontnyard, ranting, raving and yanking up wildflowers from his lawn!

I've tried to get wildflowers to grow in my yard but all I get are wild weeds!

It was a packet of wildflower seeds we got from Walmart or Target. It was supposed to have marigolds and zinnias. But what I did see a lot of in my neighbors' yards were cosmos. Already have plenty of weeds. Mostly goat heads, burr grass, milk weed, and of course the oh-so-famous Russian Thistle aka more commonly known as the Tumble Weed (lesser known though more commonly SEEN as: the New Mexican Car Bra).

Oh, that is funny! I'm safely on the other side of the country, so I can laugh and you can't get me. The nearby mountain is calling for 6" tonight, but I'm 20 miles away and enjoying my blooming forsythia and daffodils.
