Surgery and MS flare?

Hello, It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here and missed you all. I forgot my login and had to create a new account. After the news my last MRI was good, my mother passed away in August and in September I was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis. (Flesh eating disease). I had to have major surgical debridement and spent my birthday in the ICU. Five days of three different antibiotics 24 hours a day. But the infection is gone. Now I feel like all of this is causing a MS flare. I go to my neurologist today and I’m a little worried about the visit. A lot of my old symptoms come and go worse now. I wonder if surgery can cause a flare. But at least I’m still alive. And I have huge wounds on the front and back of my leg, but I still have my leg.

The surgery and necrotizing fasciitis can cause a flare up.. both cause an increase in inflammation!!

😲 Wow! You have had a horrible time of it! I hope things improve soon! I've had two surgeries since being diagnosed and no MS issues from them. That being said, I didn't have all the stress you've had. I would put my bet on the stress giving you the problems.

my goodness you've had a whole lot to deal with. i'm glad you still have your leg. i'm sorry for your loss. i lost a parent last year when everything was relatively calm, so i can't imagine how you must be feeling...

limboland here. surgery didn't cause me any problems, but when i get sick with other things like flu or a virus, then all of my symptoms flare up. i would probably blame the stress your body has been under for the symptom issues. it's a good thing you're seeing your neuro.🤗
