Not sure if you have heard, but my dad fell off the ladder trying to fix the chimney 3wks ago... He punctured a lung, broke some ribs and fractured his back. π Thank The Angels he is back home and trying to do to much.
But it's been nuts, my mom isn't that mobile, and she didn't want me there with the puppy. So it was calling all day long, just to check on her. Making sure she was alright.
Then there is the puppy.. anyone want her? OMG, she is a terror! She is almost potty trained π just an accident once in awhile. And I'm pretty sure she was abused before I got her.π We are making progress though! And I changed her name to Stormy!π€£π
What's up with you guys? π€π π

Hope your Dad recoups well. In April I climbed a ladder onto my carport to fix a loose shingle, and when I tried to get off by dropping onto the grass, I lost my balance and fell 7 feet landing on my stomach/chest/face. I was forced to get X-rays (which I hate) and the doctor was shocked that there were no fractures. But for weeks my Ribs/Chest/Elbow hurt so much that my MS pain took a back seat. I have not gone up a ladder since. And the MS pain is back in full.
TY 2Kiggy he seems to be. He's cranky having to wear the brace's so I'm taking that as a good thing! I'm so glad that you are alright! Ladders are dangerous if you don't have a spoter. Hang in there! No pun intended βΊοΈπ€ππ
Blessings to both you and your father. Boy, I puppy would wear me out. . .but "Stormy" is such a cute name too, btw. Glad your mother and you seem to be doing better. πππ
TY so much DM0329 π€ she is killing me π and as far as my mother goes.. well, I love my Dad and he asked. And I will NOT get blamed for not trying to take care of her.π€£π€ππ
π€i'm glad your dad is home! my favourite uncle is in his 70's. though he claims to be retired, he fell from a ladder a couple years back and got a six inch gash in his head. he sent me pics from before and after the staples they used (staples!?!π±) to close it. why was he back up a ladder and atop a roof within 6 weeks?π‘ hopefully you can get your dad to act with more sense.π€
my first cat was a rescue who'd been through some things. i remember wondering if i shouldn't have brought him home with me b/c he hid under the bed whenever anyone other than me got near him... over time i made that his safe spot. wherever we lived, under the bed was off limits to humans. long story short, he was my feline soulmate. we were together 13 wondrous years. i've mentioned on other threads that i had a cat who only sniffed my face when i was getting sick again. he was super attuned to me and the sweetest cat... to me only
πΈ. it took him 3 years to climb in my lap, but every little battle we had was worth it so hang in there with your new puppy; i bet she turns out to be the best companion.β€οΈπ»π€
that's what i always say. the last time i got a new fur baby, the woman at the shelter laughed at me b/c i went up to each cubby and just said hello to each cat. if they responded positively, i let them sniff me. if that went well, i held them. she said they were too young to show their personalities.π€oh really? i took home the cat who leaned back in my arms like a baby and put his paw on my face while purring.
that's the cat who'll awaken from a deep sleep when i cry (my dad died earlier this year) and come get in my face until i'm ok.. at which point he goes back into a deep sleep. no matter how rough the day, i laugh and am happy for some portion of it b/c of my cat. yay pets!π»β€οΈ
You certainly have been busy, Jesmcd2 You dad is getting better now that he is at home? Stormy from Sprite? The life of being a fur baby mom! And as if you had nothing going on in your life!
OMG. I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad but glad he's home resting. What type of puppy do you have? I love stormy name. Remind me of the song "Stormy Weather". Your mother and you stay strong and continue to help dad get better.
That reminds me of a story, from when I was a kid. My grandfather first told it to me then, but I've heard it several times again over the years. A man was working on a church steeple, and fell a great distance, amazingly unharmed. However, sometime later, he had a minor trip/fall and died as a result. Funny, not the story, but how you remember some things from so long ago, yet you can't remember things from yesterday, like what did I make for dinner.
Also, ladders and I. Well we don't get along so well anymore. I used to, like everyone else I worked with, used ladders without fear, amazed at the contortions to get that extra distance from the top of the 30' ladder, yes, 30 footers, because that's as long as they came still transportable. One foot on the ladder, both hands working on the piping or whatever it was we were working on, with tools strapped at the hip and materials in hand. Went through the phase when my legs stopped working right, so I learned how to climb a ladder using only my arms. Okay, I used my legs for positioning, but if my arms gave out, I'd slide right down, by no means elegantly. Now that is determination with M.S.! That lasted at most a couple years. (No fancy stuff on a ladder then either, just to get up to see).
Now, that tiny 8' extension ladder, is more than I can handle. I do, on rare occasions of insanity, and am amazed at surviving the minimal use on a ladder these days. I consider the need for a full body harness and rope just to access a gutter 6' up now. How things change!?!?
Last one. Breaking ribs. I did so ground level. M.S. balance issues, I fell onto a wood pile around the camp fire. Mid-day! Okay, they weren't broken, just fractured. But they hurt! But I know someone who's were broken from riding a bike. Did you know they don't do anything for them, other than bandages and take it easy till they heal? A healthy older than I, fell jabbing the bike's handle bars into his chest riding on loose ground. I know the pain. Typical broken bones put in a cast never hurt as bad.
And I'm forgetting the most important. Tell your dad. I feel for him. OUCH! He didn't have to show us all up in damage you could do to yourself!
I traversed the inside of a chimney from the top 1/4 to 1/2 way down, of a sky scraper in Chicago many years ago. But there was no pain. Realistically no gain either for me in doing so, but the job went on so a fancy 100+ year old club could re-open.
so glad dad is doing better and is home ,i know where you are coming from i was the same way ...loved my daddy well loved mom too but we didn't get along as me and dad but we never really know what mom's went through to make them so judgemental....ahhhahhahahah....love to all of the family ...but it is so true we are daddy's girls....hahahah...miss him so much....
