I have taken Lyrica for pain for about 5 years. I take only 100mg 2x a day. While it's not perfect, it does take the edge off the pain. Especially sitting long periods, which now I don't have a choice really anymore. I'm progressive MS in a power wheelchair about 98% of the time. I do walk a bit each day to try to keep up my strength. I've tried them all and Lyrica works the best, but if I go over 150mg I get crazy side effects. Whenever I have tried going off Lyrica I usually quickly go back on it. Withdrawls and tapering Lyrica is pretty terrible....probably be on it for life, I guess.
Anyone else with pain medication experiences?

I have had pain the whole 27 years of ms. Nine years ago I had a pain pump installed and best thing I ever did☺️ I am on my second pump now and had a refill did yesterday and pump turned up 👍. The great thing is no more pills 💊 👍😁😉🤗 Good luck and glad Lyrica is working for you 👍🙏 Ken 🐾🐾
i always fuss at my mum for refusing to write down questions, so that would be my main suggestion. if it's your first appointment, they might have to fiddle with things for a bit, but hopefully they'll relieve some of the pain while they figure out the rest of it. also, don't be afraid of procedures! i was hesitant to let them mess with my spine and it took two other types before we found it, but nerve burns help me quite a lot.
i gained 17 pounds in two weeks on lyrica 😱, which is why i no longer take it, lol, but i've heard some people do well on it. i also once took an anti depressant that made my hands shake uncontrollably... got off that one pretty quickly, too. i've noticed i tend to have off the wall reactions to meds, so when i find a good one i stick to it.
have you talked to your doc about the side effects and do you need to go over 150mg per day? i can't remember the name of it, but i was once on a med that gave me a slight allergic reaction. when i told the doc about it he added benadryl and the problem went away. maybe s/he has some ideas?
I tried about five meds for neuropathic pain in my feet and hand. Gabapentin is the only one that had an effect on the pain with the most tolerable side effects. Lyrica made me feel quite drunk and it never went away after 10 days of using it. Gabapentin did that also, but that side effect subsided. I’m just hoping the gabapentin continues to help. I’ve been on it for a little over 10 years now.
Neuropathy not just from MS. I have Small Nerve Fiber Neuropathy, especially in my legs, which is separate from the MS and caused by other autoimmune conditions. I had a skin biopsy just below my right knee and it showed 3/4 of the nerves ŵere damaged or destroyed. It's very hard to treat I guess. Pain to varying degrees from the neck down. Burning, pins and needles, hypersensitivity, cold and heat sensitivity, pressure sensitivity. Could probably go on. Taking showers are probably the hardest and most exhausting thing I do. The temp has to be just right....Could probably go on and on.
I've tried most pain killers and anti-depressants.
My doctor says I should move to a legal marijuana state. I have tried cbd oils and nothing. Guess I'm scared to do anything addictive. Lyrica is bad enough....
mine is combination of Lyrica 50 am and 100 hs with Baclofen and Tizanidine. When I time it right it's mostly effective enough. I'm interested in Sativax but not found someone to prescribe it
