Wishing I lived in a state other than MN... - My MSAA Community
Wishing I lived in a state other than MN today :(
I read about this not too long ago
My 2 nieces work for the neighboring city PD (from where it happened). One as a rookie officer & the other as a community service officer while she finishes college. We are under lockdown from 7pm - 6am. Scary.
it makes no sense
🙏🏾
Unacceptable police actions, especially treatment of people of color, are not exclusive to Minnesota. This is a national problem, something every state must address by firing/weeding out/charging members of the policing communities who violate the civil and human rights of their fellow citizens.
They should put a texture or something on the tasers so they feel different. My husband pointed out that guns are very heavy so she should have known by the weight. But, how heavy is a taser? All that is going on between the police and people of color just makes me sick.
It may actually have been an accidental shooting, but why pull your weapons for a damn expired tag? I got stopped recently for running a stop sign (accident) but being a white woman didn't have to worry about getting killed by a cop.
I think they freaked out when they found out who he was when they ran the tag, which seems to be a recurring theme. I’ve been approached with gun out and the officer screaming at me (for a 10mi/hr speed trap violation), because I pulled off the highway to stop my car 🤯
That is very scary! I always thought guns were supposed to be used as a last resort-handcuffs should be 1st - depending on the offense/situation & safety of the officer(s) of course.
Very scary. I was sitting in the car and had turned the engine off. He kept screaming at me to repeat where I was going (to Kroger), because my voice is low sometimes from MS. I have no idea now what would happen if I’m having a non verbal day, I guess I’d be murdered. I have noticed that officers here stop everyone on the road, even if it blocks traffic 🤷♀️ I’ve been pulled over 4 times for speeding before in other states and no officer behaved that way.
(In my opinion ONLY There is no excuse for that type of behavior on their part...but I can’t even imagine how much harder their jobs have become bc of the multiple incidents the last few years. Always being watched-cameras, bystander videos etc. But all of those things are bringing to light the long-standing systemic problems. A lot of students don’t pass the psychological exam to become officers. I can’t even imagine being in a job where having a bad day can mean life or death for the person you are pulling over/trying to arrest. I’m proud of my nieces for becoming officers-but not for me-no thank you.
