My mom has MS and been dealing with severe leg pain for about 20 years. She was prescribed Oxycodone in the early 2000's and her dosage gradually increased since then. Now she is at a point where the Doctor doesnt want to increase the dosage saying it could be dangerous.
She asked me to find some on the 'black market' making suspect she might be addicted. I was wondering what can replace Oxycodone? She tried marijuana and didnt like it. I was thinking maybe micro-dose mushrooms would be a soultion but theres not much info
Thank you

She is seriously addicted to the Oxycodone. She is not taking it for leg pain; she is taking it to avoid withdrawal symptoms. She may or may not still be getting pleasure from it. She needs detoxification. You are not going to find anything on your own that will substitute for the Oxycodone. There isn't anything except another opioid that will relieve her cravings.
I was watching a program last week called oxyana. They were prescribed suboxone to get them off the high levels of oxy. It is very successful. I read some med trial reports etc. It is a pain med but at a much lower dose than the oxy. Oxy is a very hard med to stop. She is dependent on it both mentally and physically. I too have MS and know how hard it is.
I hope she has a pain management doctor caring for her who can taper her off opioids and on to something else. If she has one and they don't know how to manage I would find a new one. If you are in a state where medical marijuana is available keep in mind there are different types and help with different symptoms so would see someone who specializes in that if she wants to try again. I understand as I never much enjoyed recreational marijuana myself 😁
I'm on slow realise oxycodone 15 mg 3 times a day for really bad pain and on shortec 10 mg 2 a day quit realise ones i have to take thwm as if i don't i really can't move cause of pain im under pain management at hospital for my back i cant be operated on as have heart disease and they say I wouldn't serviss the operation so I'm on for life I'm not addicted to them but when they start wearing of i cant move and have trouble walking is anyone else on shortec from here
why did she start Oxy, I assume pain. I was lucky after 3 or 4 overdoses I ended up getting surgery on my face, so no pain for a few years. black-market anything is ridiculous, and I agree marijuana does not cut the pain. Look for other options or I am very sorry to say cope. Black market anything is very dangerous. Look HARD for another option
I'm surprised nobody here suggested to ask her doctor to work with her to cut it back. Someone above did say there was something to help. I would think the doctor would want to know what's going on and what she's asking for. I'm sorry she's stuck with this drug and not something that is non-addicted. (addictable?? Is that a word??)
Momjules,What does diazepam do for you? I take Lyrica for the nerve pain. It works very well for me. The problem is if I take the recommended dose I end up sleeping. I am very tired of sleeping my life away. I am trying to only take 50 mg a day. I keep feeling like if I can just take the edge off I’ll be OK. My doctor also has me on Oxsee cotton for the pain. I itch horribly and it also makes me sleepy and really doesn’t help much. I take 20 to 40 mg every evening depending on how much pain I’m in. My prescription is 15 mg twice a day. I don’t take it in the morning. I don’t want to itch or be tired. Trying to figure something else out so I can survive. Anybody? I’d really love any advice. Oh and I’m not allowed to drink alcohol or use marijuana. If it is detected in my urine My doctor will take away my pain medication. Any advice would be very very very appreciated.
