Advice from Vumerity users

Looks like my insurance provider is dropping Tecfidera starting in December. Last month my neuro mentioned Vumerity, which is covered, but I declined because Tec works for me(not fond of dimethyl fumarate). What do you think? Should I stop being such a Tec snob and try Vumerity? 😌

I don’t know anything about vumerity but what other choice do you have? I would never be able to afford MS meds without insurance

My thoughts exactly. Thanks for that perspective Neworleanslady

That really stinks the insurance not covering it anymore. I've never heard of vumerity. I worry about my insurance not covering my Aubagio. So far no problems but we never know. I've had no new lesions since starting it 2 years ago. Best of luck finding a new med.

Aubagio does have an assistance program.

Thank you. They do pay my $60 copay for me which I'm very grateful for.

Never heard of vumerity? Had really good luck with no side effects with Aubiago. Also great with Tysabri. Have you called insurance your self and see what they cover? Don’t just depend on doctor, go straight to insurance to be sure 👍. Good luck Ken 🐾🐾🤗

Great advice! I remember when I was on Copaxone, before it went generic, there was a program to cover what insurance wouldn’t pay. The drug companies want you on their drug, I would think.

Definately call the insurance company and see what's up. An they usually have to give you more notice than that when something isn't covered. If it's not covered, is there another insurance you can switch to that would cover it? Not sure what insurance you have. If they won't cover it, call the drug company to see if they will help. Keep us updated!

Good idea. If tiffortat is in the US and eligible to change insurers, it is open ennrollment period.

Another idea may be4 calling the drug company and seeing what solutions they may have.

is there a reason that they are not going to cover anymore ???

They stress cost savings with the generic form that’s now available.

No idea! I’m just here to see what the others say. I hope you post again about what you choose and how it goes.

I take neither one but reads good things about Vumerity. It evidently has fewer GI side effects. I hope it works out well for you.

Does techfidera have an assistance program? I think most manufacturers have one.

I’m on the Copay assistance program with Biogen for Tec, but my insurance has to cover the medication as the brand name. It only covers the generic now.

mrsmike9 profile image
mrsmike9 in reply totiffortat

I would think the assistance program would keep "assisting". Have you spoken to them?

tiffortat profile image
tiffortat

You would think right?! Biogen literally said I would pay out of pocket $200. They’re now “assisting” with Vumerity. Works for me.

Not what you're looking for?
