New ride (transport chair)

When I was looking for accessibility ideas, a transport chair was recommended. Although I obviously can’t push myself, this will be great for doctor appointments...much easier for my husband to lift in and out of the car. And it’s pink! Isn’t it pretty (picture is from Amazon)? I’m looking forward to using it...not enough to actually want to go out, though, unless I have to!

Congratulations! It's sassy! I love my chair, too. I don't need one often, but it's so nice to know I have it. It opens up all sorts of possibilities!

Right? I loved the pink and it was actually cheaper than plain black ones. I guess it pays to be different sometimes!

When I was sent home from rehab, my ankle was not weightbearing; I was still in bandages and a boot. A friend lent me a full size wheelchair that was lightweight and folded easily to put in a car for trips to the surgeon's office. It was easy to maneuver in the house, fit through doorways, easily, and locked in place when I transferred to a toilet or bed. Since I live alone, it was a godsend.

That sounds fantastic. Do you remember what brand it was?

It was either this or another model. What I liked about it was the maneuverability and the flip back arm. This allowed me to come up close to the bed, lock it, flip up one arm, stand on my good leg and slide onto the bed. If I were to need one again, I would buy this, because it was so compact when folded. I did buy a gel pad for the seat because the nylon seat has no padding (for ease of folding) and sitting on a taut firm surface all day was painful to my hip joints. Medline - MDS806550E Lightweight & User-Friendly Wheelchair With Flip-Back, Desk-Length Arms & Elevating Leg Rests for Extra Comfort, Gray, 18" Seat
