I don’t have one. They start shipping in September I think. But I would love to get one someday 😃 it’s an American startup (a guy designed it for his wife) so it may not be available in Europe for a while.

Yes it does look like a lot of fun but I wonder what safety standards it will be required to meet in order to be sold on the open market and not just through an amateur backyard enterprise. Does the USA even require minimum safety standards for this sort of equipment? I know that in other countries it would have to meet certain minimum safety standards before it could be sold. It has no seat belt and no roll bars to prevent serious injuries if it tips over, and the 12mph he says it can do is fast enough for really serious injuries to happen to the user if it crashes.

Sorry to be a pit of a party pooper, but I'm also a bit suspicious about someone who's telling people to go to their website and make donations - I wonder if down the track it will be found that all the donations have disappeared along with the "designer" of the equipment, but strangely very few people will have actually received chairs that they have ordered. Yes, I'm a cynical old bag but it wouldn't be the first time this sort of thing happens.

The US definitely doesn’t have safety requirements like Europe but does have some minimum requirements for wheelchairs and other mobility transports they will have to meet. For me personally, I would only donate if it was through a site like gofundme which does have some protections. But it doesn’t automatically make me skeptical as other mobility device startups began this way in recent years and hopefully since they are getting some coverage via the press they will be cautious in how they proceed, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding come September when they are supposed to start shipping. Anyway, fingers crossed that this one will be legit too since it’s such a great idea 💡
