I thought I had one earlier this year when my Neuro sent me in but totally didn't realize or forgot that when I was talking to my family dr that my current neuro doesn't do the back for MS...only brain and upper neck area. Last back MRIs I had were in 2012 and 2014 which I think were from my old Neuro. So my doctor wants me to have an MRI of by back as soon as possible. I'm sure I will get a call either later today or tomorrow to schedule it. Hopefully it's this week as there are appointments that my bf has next week and I as I don't drive he will be the one most likely taking me. Nurse gave me 3 different shots in my hips today. Tegredal that I had in the ER but wore of by the end of the night, and 2 of something else in each hip that I can't remember the name of. Just don't know why this pain came on all of a sudden, I don't think I did anything to it.

Hi Jessi sorry for the pain you're going through. I had the experience this weekend of a change in the weather. I woke up Saturday morning with painful hips knees feet and the arthritis in my hands and shoulders were all stiff and painful. I spent most of that day in bed taking arthritis meds, MS meds, couple Tylenol, my husband was the one that realized it was probably because our weather had finally cooled down significantly, especially at night. I have lesion T2-5 that are Ms, white spots in brain Doc is not ready to classify as MS. Hope you get relief soon.
CalfeeChick Thanks, I'm hoping I do as well. Doctor gave me a refill on an rx for pain and also told me to take 3 ibuprofen's 3 times a say as well for inflammation as I forgot about that from the er
I don't have to take the ibuprofen anymore because my leg no longer bothers me The pain was so horrible, glad it finally went away in back in Nov. Psyadica pain is the worst. I hope I never have that ever again.

Two peas in a pod. Same problems, same yrs on old MRIs, I'm just ahead of you since I had the new MRI and am waiting on swedish nuerosurgery to schedule discectomy etc. And I really thought most of numbness and weakness was MS but turns out maybe I'll be able to get a little more feeling and strength back I hope. Yah some of it's MS but I love it when they can actually fix things.
Please keep me posted on how your surgery goes and the eventual results. If you don't mind me asking, what are your anticipated results of the discectomy? Or is the surgery for some other reason? I have multiple back issues, long before MS. Osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, I had Laminectomy on L4-5 in 1999 for herniated disc , had the whole area fused in 2011. The fusion was the best thing I ever did. Before MS, my orthopedic doc thought I might have slight herniation where the MS lesions are now.. Has always made me curious. Best to you on your surgical procedure.
My husbands disectomy was a nightmare he's what you consider failed back surgery but he has 98percent diSC I mean bone degeneration throught his entiremail spine and nothing to fuse to. I still have vertebrae and bones to fuse so hopefully it goes well. Yah I was in 7 car accidents, fell off ladder once got hit hard with ski chair then pushed a broken self propel lawn mower in 2014 and 2016 then pulled weeds 2017 I had prior mri 1998 to 2014 just bulged and 2017 ruptured herniated extruding against main sciatic nerve with loss of disc height. But have also had numbness and partial paralysis weakness etc as part of ms. When I got the steroid epidural injection more feeling and sensation came back than I expected. Unfortunately no strength came back so hope surgery goes well Dr says worth it if I can regain strength and partial feeling
I hope that the discectomy helps you out with your pain and numbness. Have to love it when some things happen and they are typical of MS but are actually something else.
kdali So far they are helping. Thought they might ware off like before but so far the pain is very minimal as long as I don't do too much walking or standing in one spot. Thanks for checking in on my
Same here. I finally got approved for a MRI on my back. Have it tomorrow evening. I do hope it shows something. Been a looong haul for them to listen to me. Hope you relief soon π
Dpjinx Glad you were approved for your MRI, I'm hoping and kind of scared of what the mri is going to show but hopefully will explain why the sudden pain that I have been in and why it has gone on for 2 weeks now. The shots seem to be working because the pain is dialed way down compared to where it was the last couple of weeks.
Jesmcd2 I have been taking it easy, not doing to much...though I was able to stand and empty the dishwasher today where I have had someone else do it for me since this happened, so that was a nice change lol
No call yet today but I thought they were calling earlier but it was another vehicle insurance company calling that I had received quotes from in the past and chose another company because theirs was cheaper. The one before them called last week and said he would run some numbers and call me back the next day....never head back lol
Had the MRI. Results are Lots if Arthur (arthritis) and some messed up discs. There is some pinched nerves. Being referred to a neurosurgeon will call tomorrow for appt. don't know what the next step is. Hoping for relief. This weekend pain has been unbearable. I'll keep all posted as things happen. Dpjinx
Thanks Dpjinx Hope you get some answers after tonight's scan. I thought the hospital or my dr office was balling today but alas it was my boyfriend's neuro to reschedule his appointment because she will be out of the office on the day of his appointment next month.
Thanks WAshingtongirl ! I still haven't heard anything yet from the hospital about getting the mri scheduled but where I live it seems to take forever to get in to get one done...very strange to me but I guess I'm just used to them being done sooner in a bigger town compared to whee I live now.
Where we lived before, I would wait 3 months for an MRI. I thought that was normal until we moved here. The waiting can be hard. Hopefully, you have the number to the scheduling desk...just in case they forget to call you. That happened to me once. I waited forever and finally decided to call them. They'd misplaced my number...So how is the pain? Still getting better? I wonder if an MRI done following the shot will still show the problem. I guess a lack of inflammation won't alter the cause or what they can see on the MRI...
WAshingtongirl i have not heard anything yet but I will call the scheduling desk on Monday π Never thought to call them lol Leg is getting a little better but mornings and night are when the pain is worst.
Dpjinx here. I did have my MRI on my lower back. There some pinched nerves and some crooked discs. π Been referred to neurosurgeon. I was interviewed by phone yesterday. Now I wait for a doctor to review my info and decide if they'll see me or recommend something else no idea how long but I hope it's soon. I'm in so much pAin
Dpjinx I'm sorry the news isn't good but at least now you know why. Hopefully you can get into the neurosurgeon will be able to help you get some relief.
Ever since dx I have had leg pain heaviness and sometimes so bad...xray of back doesnt show 2...MS is a maze of info and we all deserve degrees of some sort....
