I am so angry

This disease has taken everything from me. I tried to mow my backyard and had a really hard time just going around the edge. Thank goodness it started raining and I’ll tell myself that was the reason I quit.

😢😢😢

You can't cut the grass in the rain. give yourself a break.

Because it was hot and humid when you were trying to mow? Because your sleep was crap? Needed some coffee to help?

Feeling like a failure over the grass is not going to serve you.

Sorry about your frustrations. You have good days and bad days, that is a fact. You were just having one of your bad days. I bet if you listened to your body when you got up it told you it was going to be a bad day. Those are the days that we must take things slow and not try to do anything that may exert our energy because if we do, we pay a price for it. I have learned and accepted that. The Serenity Prayer (the whole prayer, not just the first verse) works really good for easing frustrations when we can't do something we used to be able to do without thinking about it.

I am sorry! Yes, this disease sucks! It does slowly rob us. But thankfully it started to rain, so it didn’t matter. Just think of it as God playing a prank on you at that moment. It got you out of a jam. Besides you have a strapping, young son...so make him mow the lawn! But if you are like me, I love mowing my own lawn. My heart hurts for you. Little by little, over time, our bodies, once so vibrant, betray us. Love, Kelly

Hey Tex, hasn't anyone told you that MS is a rollercoaster ride? Your going to have Good days, Great days and bad and really bad days.

Sometimes, you have to just go with it, and accept it. If you're to tired, take it easy. It will pass.🤗💕🌠

I totally empathize. Here in the southeast, the heat is worst late in the day so I went to water my garden (just 8 raised beds) about 10 in the morning. The sun was not high in the sky. An hour later, I was too exhausted to coil up the hose, came in, sat under the ceiling fan and didn't recover until the next morning. I was too exhausted to do anything except drink water and iced tea. I try not to piss and moan, but I hate what MS does to me.

I am waiting for the men to weigh in here. I know its a guy thing. My dad at 93 used to mow his lawn - corner lot - in sections. It wud take him a few days. But he was determined to keep doing it. We got him to stop by moving in with one of my sisters.

I know its rough for men to not be able to do those types of manly chores. But there comes a time to give in and either get a riding mower or lawn service. Or a kid in ur neighborhood that wants to make $10. 😁😁😁

It might be a personal sort accomplishment thing male or female of whatever we were good at but are challenged lately.

Yes, our bodies tell us what we are capable of doing, even if our minds don’t agree.

Our minds have to reconcile that with where we are today. That’s the hard part.

For me, 1. It's got to be early. My city allows 8 a.m. start, so I get a jump on it by weed whacking with a quiet battery electric trimmer to get what the mower can't before then. 2. Then, it's got to be low humidity. I can deal with heat or cold, but not hot & humid. Cooling vests then give me a bit more time. Breaks too. Bottom line, heat + humidity is H E Double Toothpicks! It's like that now. So I'm sheltering in place with the air conditioner!

I do love the power driven push mower. I feel it's like a healthy excercise machine, or is it a powered walker? Great for my poor balance. I lost the cane, but a shopping cart or mower is always welcome.

But, remember. A body at rest, simply stays at rest, then withers and dies. I was there for a long time. Years. But I kept pushing myself. With time, a lot of it, it gets better.

Arg feel your pain....been 5 years since I could get to my grass never mind mow it

It’s all about adapting to things you didn’t realise you couldn’t do anymore; until you go to do it and exhaust yourself, injure yourself or break something...

It’s very frustrating, but a cool shower, an adaptation plan and a cuppa helps

Sounds like Texas the town has gone a bit intense there; so I’m sure there’s someone who would be only too grateful to get on with tending to your lawn on a regular basis, in return for some @texaslawman cowboy wisdom, a beer and a few dollars

Then you can use that precious energy on staying cool, amusing Delilah and amusing us

Life’s too short to do anything but make it easy on yourself

Hugs

Don't worry, TexasLawman the lawn will be there tomorrow.

You should get a t-shirt saying 'I fought the lawn, and the lawn won'. That would be hilarious seeing as you are in law enforcement! :-D
