Romans 12:2

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Let me share my most recent round of adversity.…

For over three weeks, I was challenged with rather significant GI issues; overwhelmed with pain, fatigue and weakness, as well as fear, frustration, anger & humility. In addition, when I get sick, MS has a good reason to pounce even harder on my challenged mind and body.

So…how do I cope? What do I do?

It’s not easy, but very effective:

Take my eyes off myself.

Make a conscious effort to focus on others.

Read God’s word daily.

Pray for others, along with myself.

Associate with others of like mind.

I have found in all my adversity that if I follow these simple steps over and over there is true transformation. Try it and see for yourself.

By the way, I am back to ‘my normal’ now, after a restful vacation with my family. More prayers answered and positive proof of God’s amazing grace.

Always smiling. The alternative is very destructive for not only me, but all who are around me.

Good morning, I am new to this group, but not too the struggles of MS. Just need to let you know your testimony has given me the motivation I needed this morning. You see on Tuesday we at my church have a food pantry. Today feeling pretty weak and not really able to stand very long. But after reading your story I am going to go anyway. I can always stop and sit. Thank You, have a blessed day.

Wow! This confirms my beliefs...take the focus off of myself and put it on others. We both win. Thank you for sharing. Your words mean the world to me! God bless you my friend.

Counting one's blessings and giving thanks for what you do have can be life changing.

I thank God I have no pain. When it does come, I will thank God for the very long and wonderful life I did have.

thanks robster1 for the wisdom. Focusing on my illness does no good to anyone but when I focus on my wellness, and when I reach out to help others, I am in step with G-d's plan for me. G-d gives me strength for whatever comes next. Even though i've had some decline recently, I have also tried harder than ever to stay as healthy as possible. It's working. Today I walked without a cane or a walker for the first time in over a month. Now who can I help?

Amen! Great testimony! It is always better to focus on helping others than on yourself. Jesus did even when hanging on a cross when he asked God to forgive them. He wasn't focusing on Himself but was worried about the people who wanted Him dead.

Thank you for your post!
