When I read the title of your message I thought you were making fun and you'd found a furfriend and he was next to you!

Check out Petsmart as the animals they have are from shelters and not puppy mills. I believe they are open to provide pet supplies.

Have you tried doing an internet search for foster pets? That's how I got the last dog I had. I don't have her anymore and can't get another one until I move away from the apartment I'm in now.

yes, ive volunteered to foster but ty.no moving with covid and they aren't accepting even to foster..sadly, now there are more abuse cases with animals.

So sad the shelters are closed. I too would love to find a friend but have to wait till things get back to normal. I'm nowhere near Idaho, but things are about the same here. (California) keep the faith & the right one will come along. 🙏

My brother just got a nice pit bull from Craigslist. His favorite breed, they are nice of trained well.

Maybe try Craigslist. Our son works in the Sawtooths for US Forestry doing trail work. Such a wonderful state.

Forestry?!Im jealous...Pitbulls are beautiful and so sweet.i weigh 110 and swear I can only handle a 25 pounder.Pits get a bad note.No bad dogs just bad owners....best wishes...

That’s it exactly!

I sell insurance and don't tell them you have a Pit. They could cancel your policy because of that. The "biting" dogs get such a bad rap. During WW2 it was German Shepherds because the Nazi's trained them to be vicious. Over time it transitioned to Rottweilers, Dobermans and Pitts (probably because of Michael Vic). It's how they are trained, not their natural way of being. Can you tell this irks me? And I've never even owned one of those dogs!!!

Yep, it is certainly how they are trained. We have had four Shepard’s so far. All have been wonderful, non-aggressive. Pits are good also if trained well.

I have heard about policies being cancelled.

Shelters here are also closed, but the SPCA is doing video adoptions after talking with those who want to adopt. This has been quite successful for all involved. Is this a possibility for you?

Search adoptable pets - Idaho Humane Societyidahohumanesociety.org › adopt › search-adoptable-pets

This is what I found online in Idaho. If I've incorrectly remembered your state, apologies. There is a notice that they are temporarily switching to an online application process.

I adopted an English Mastiff from Dallas Animal Services. She will be my service animal even though she is deaf.

Oh, the drool!! They are such cool dogs though. My husband and I like large dogs. We are on our 2nd Newfound and had a Leonberger before this last Newfie.
