Ok, update again.....

Good morning All,

First off, I again want to thank you all for your words, prayers, encouragement, jokes and sharing your personal stories.

I spoke to soon Tuesday afternoon, after seeing the Neurologist. He didn't really say, "you don't have MS"....(must have been my misunderstanding).

He did actually say...."that is NOT my concern right now...." and insisted I stay to see the neurosurgeon (yesterday). So I did.

The news was not good. Not what I was prepared to hear....The DDD, is so bad that surgery will not really help.....He said it will only keep me from being paralyzed and out of a wheelchair and/or confined to a bed only. It would Not make me any better.

He said the sooner the better, talking April 7 or possibly March 24 for the surgery and a year of recovery in a center (because,I live alone).

As far as MS----he and the Neurologist agree, that is Not the issue to be addressing at this point!

I don't need you guys to respond, I just need some time to process all this.

I just felt like I should let you all know after seeing/ reading all your "well wishes" for me.

It is an overwhelming time for you and Iโ€™m sorry youโ€™re going through all this, Red. So much to take in at once. Itโ€™s good that you give yourself some space...take things one day at a time. Iโ€™m sure between your docs and acquired research, you will make the best informed decision possible. Prayers your way friend!๐Ÿ•Š

I hold you in my thoughts and heart. Stay positive, and stay connected. Those of us who live alone are very accustomed to our independence. Many of us find it difficult to ask for help. But if you are going to go into rehab for a long period after surgery, help will be important to ease your mind while your body heals. Let your friends and social connections know about the kinds of help you need now, and while you recover. Most friends are more than willing to help when we ask.

I also live alone. My foot slipped off a rain slick step, dislocating and fracturing my ankle. After surgery, I spent two months in rehab, then three months in a wheelchair at home. If friends and neighbors hadn't helped me with specific tasks, I don't know what I would have done: one built a ramp, another helped me bathe, another bought groceries, someone else fetched the mail, etc. etc. etc. They made it possible for me to imagine healing and resuming life among the trees I love so much. I wish such friends and neighbors for you.

Good luck Hidden I'm sorry that the news wasn't better and that you will have to enter a longterm rehab. Do you have people near you that could help? Keep us updated when you can.

Jessie,

Thanks for your message. No, I donโ€™t have anyone here to help. Which, makes it difficult. I have always tried to be tough and now I need to ask for help. Tis difficult, everyone here is great ๐Ÿ‘
