So I filed my 2019 taxes with H & R block, like I have done for the last decade, so I wouldn't have any problems....
Well, that was January 30th and electronic filing should take 21 days (at least).
I received my state back in two weeks...I waited patiently. I had already promised the refund to my landlord (for past due).
I called h and r block, they didn't have a clue, they called IRS and didn't get an answer either! They called me back and said it is "missing"....
I received a letter yesterday from IRS.... saying I was chosen for "fraud-alert" and to call a phone number. So I did, after being on hold for over an hour...someone answers and wants to ask me 101 questions. I try to play along, but I am upset.
She finally tells me I proved it is really me.
I tell her that was "worse than a job interview" She tells me, it will now be an additional 9 weeks for my refund! A n d I should be happy they are working on fraud with the IRS.
I dont get refunds anymore, I dont get enough to have to file. One headache I dont miss! However, such a sucky place to be, I suppose now that I think on it, I should say I dont get to file taxes anymore. Impoverished sucks just another thing MS ripped from me, financial stability. Hope that refund gets a move on for you and it dosent take as long as anticipated. 💙🧡
If your disability gets denied make sure you appeal. With leagal council if possible. I was one of the few it went through right off but even then the SSDI doctor I had to see told me she has seen amputees denied. It's like a numbers game for the overseeing agency. Its rediciolus that it is that way, to many cheating the system.
I hope it gets sorted quickly, dealing with the HMRC that it’s called over here is a nightmare. I now let my accountant deal with it, but unfortunately his bill is nearly as big as the refund. Keep us updated Blessings Jimeka 🤗
Oh, my goodness. That’s just wrong! Seems like if H&R Block did the filing for you, there would be no reason they would suspect fraud. I’m so sorry you are going through this.
Reserves we had a member who was an investigator for the IRS who told us that those that were picked for audit were picked randomly but I didn’t know an audit was done over the phone! And, you’re sure they were from the IRS? Personally I’d lodge a complaint with our President, over what happened and how many additional weeks you have to wait until your refund. That’s plain asinine! I hope your landlord is understanding.
just be cautious,Several years ago,my Id was stolen and someone filed my taxes before I could and they paid off their school loans!I finally did get my money but what a hassle,i ask them if I would ever know who did that,they said no they would just prosecute.I received a code from the irs every year to file my taxes anyone can get one by request,but must have that code before you can.hope things are working out
So sad that this kind of thing happens. So hard to trust anyone anymore. Someone pretended to be me or at least use my name and said I had moved out of the country at my health insurance!!! so I found out inadvertently that my policy was canceled. Took a couple weeks to fix this and get reinstated. Not only do such companies pull audits, did they let you know ahead of time? apparently not. When companies are not transparent with you, then how do we, the consumer, even know if they are for real or if they are a scam of some kind? I keep getting a bill from my medical institution which I know I paid. Why don't they acknowledge this? Did they get it? Bank says yes, but was it really them? I don't know!!!!
Isn't our government wonderful?!? We all must wait for a refund that we are due, but we must NEVER be late in paying what we owe!! Hopefully your refund will arrive sooner than later. 😳
I also am worried about it being a scam. If I recall correctly isn't H&R Block advertising no interest loans based on your refund?

Good news today. I filed my 2018 taxes also and that refund came today! So I was at least able to pay my landlord something. Still gotta wait for 2019 refund. Grr.
It is sad that there are not programs to help.....I keep trying.
