seizure while driving?

Last year, I had weird issue while driving.it was a 5 hour drive and it was fine but then, out of the blue, couldn't control my eyes and I kind of froze up. Was able to get to side of the road, but it was scary. Now I'm on gabapentin for migraines and take valium for vertigo . But yesterday, it happened again ...does anyone else have this? Afraid to drive...but have to work.

When driving I have found that at times if I have to maneuver between something on either side of me whether it be cement pillars or a guardrail & tractor trailer truck, my eyes feel as though they start jumping & I am not confident where I am in space (kinda a freak out 🙄) but in reality I am actually fine. Proprioception issue?

Oh no, how scary. I don't drive much but because of walking and whole body numbness, especially my hands. I hope you can find answers and please share with the site. Prayers sent your way.

Sounds very scary...I gave my keys to my husband when I was on my way home from work & couldn't tell what color was lit on the traffic signal! Mega doses of steroids helped, but I was still too scared to drive. After many years I still miss driving, but I'm sure all the other motorists appreciate my decision. Lol...try to find a carpool buddy for work until you are comfortable driving again. Thoughts are with you, I know it's difficult, but you've got this.👍💕🙏

of course ask dr. it kind of sounds like to me an anxiety/panic attack.I had them for years driving, now gone went as quick as they came.sometimes I would have to pull over but my muscles would tighten and eye problems, and it always seemed to be the same area of the road.not saying that is what it is,but ask dr.what else it could be

Yes! I started having seizures about 5 years ago. As you described, out of nowhere, yet here they were. Tried many meds, and finally found Topirimate, which I have been able to take with no side effects, and NO seizures at all in over 4 years! My Neurologist said they were due to my MS...just full of surprises! I hope you can find a way to get your seizures under control, too! May the Angels watch over you! Linda

I have had seizures but they were the grand mal type where you black out, fall down, etc. I've been on Keppra which has kept them in check.

Forgot to add, my seizures got more frequent, happened at home or wherever I was, whatever I was doing. DX was partial epilepsy with impaired

consciousness.

Are you able to work and drive on these meds?

That is scary when your driving, it happened to me a few times on some of the longer trips.

My gas pedal foot would also burn and hurt and not work. I found if I chewed an Aspirin I could make it to the end of the trip.

I did that years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. But my husband has had similar thing and they diagnosed it as an Ocular Migraine.

I have a seizure condition also and it is a good thing that you are still alive considering your seizure took place while you were driving. I know the seizure medicine Keppra is what I take two times a day. I have not had a seizure a past 14 years. Good luck to you and hope this helps

thank you.

I'm on neurontin also but I get keppra too. I have MS for 25 yrs and had my first seizure last year. So far no more seizures since then. Hope this helps.

Have you told your doctor??

I have been on Neurontin (gabapentin) mainly for burning, nerve pain, since Cymbalta and Lyrica didn’t work for me. I have MS for 30+ years and can drive short trips to/fro home (only 15-30 minutes in the car, no matter the distance ).

So you should check with your doctor about the reason for the seizures. People who suffer from seizures/epilepsy take a very high dose of Neurontin. I cannot tolerate high dose of Neurontin even for my nerve pain; makes me extremely tired and/or I get headaches.

While driving, I did notice is that I have difficulties with eyes and muscles with staring at the same thing, especially in traffic or the other extreme, such as there isn’t nothing to focus on. I tend to tense up and my eyes become extremely dry. Then, I don’t feel comfortable where I may need to take rest or call my husband/someone to take me home.

I must have to put on the radio or CD and sing with music or listen to talk show. My brain must be working, just not driving. I prefer if someone is in the car talking to me, light conversation. Otherwise I take Uber if I am tired or not feeling well; just not a good day to operate machinery.

Hi, I have suffer from severe migraines along with dizziness, driving is dangerous for me because I also have low blood pressure + MS. I could never handle driving on a New Jersey Jug Handle!!! There is a trigger that can occur when driving when a road has like a hynotic drowsy effect. I know long distance drivers have this problem, throbe lights can trigger a seizure, could be.
