Missing Time?

Shayna-ShayBrown profile image

Does anyone have any problems like their “missing” time? It’s happened to me twice before where I have been doing something then find myself walking up in a different spot hours later w no memory of the time in between. It’s kinda of scary and I’m not sure what it is.

Please call your neurologist as soon as possible. There are so many possible causes, but you should definitely be evaluated to find and treat the cause.

Please keep up updated.

I will be going to see her next week. I looked up some things that might cause the missing time and I saw stress and anxiety which makes sense right now. Hopefully that’s all there is to it, I remember being in the same kind of place last time this happened.

I get them too. I call them my rounds of amnesia. They happen randomly at least I haven't noticed any pattern as to when they happen. For me though it can be up to 20 minutes of no memory whatsoever of what happened. It is terrifying. I've talked to my neurologist already 2 of them as a matter of fact But no one has answers for me yet. Talk to your neurologist and see if you get anything answers.

It's probably one of the cognitive changes caused by MS, but see your neuro to be sure. Also read this powerful book by Jeffrey N. Gingold, Facing the Cognitive Challenges of Multiple Sclerosis.

It has been greatly reassuring to me. When I am under any sort of stress, my mind goes blank, doesn't work as I expect it to and a rising panic makes everything worse. Gingold's experiences were more frightening than mine, but his book is reassuring: he has many suggestions for dealing with the sort of lapses that many of us experience. It comes highly recommended. I own a copy and reread it every once in a while. You can get it through your library or one of the MS book lending services.

Yes, I recommend Jeff's book & finally got to meet him. He's a real humble man & volunteers at local MS organization.

His book was very helpful. He too was evaluated for Epilepsy but was ruled to be MS related seizures.

Talk to your neuro.

Let us know how you're doing

I completely understand that 100%. I have too many of those situations and want them to go away. If this has only happened a few times then I wouldn't worry too much cause life can cause that. Everyone has stress or anxiety in some ways which causes that missing time memts but if it is more often it can definately be more. With MS discovery I was also diagnosed with narcolepsy. You may want to ask your doctor if that may be an option. I'm much better.... most days.... on narcolepsy meds. I do hope that you find an easy way to get your day back. Good luck!

Yes, ty for sharing, I thought I was nuts and then I thought it must have been MS, but you are the first I know of that’s called it out, so I’ve never mentioned it.

I lost an hour of time at work. It was so bizarre because I was trying to do things I already had done, but didn’t remember doing. Not only that, but one thing had been set up wrong. Wrong like the sky is green. I would have never done that!

This was the same month I had syncope and collapsed 🤷‍♀️

Probably one of the strangest months of my life 🤣

Can be scary. Happened to me. Stress of my job brought it out.

Ended being seizures (Partial & complex partial seizures).

but NOT epilepsy.

Its MS related. Have abnormal EEGS had to be on seizure medication & unable to

d rive for 6 months. Cost me my career. So went through SSDI

Once I wasnt working seizures stop. BUT I still miss seconds of time but not aware unless someone notices.

Hope you improve but you need to be evaluated by a neuro who specializes in seizure activity.

Hugs 💟
