Tea Time in the U.K.?

Look what I found in our local grocery store! It took me back to tea time in England. jimeka HeidiK and angelite , what time should we all be there? I'll order a raisin scone-with clotted cream, of course! And a cup of tea with cream and sugar. (I'll worry about the calories later πŸ˜‰)

But it's the company I'm most looking forward to! Ah, what a great time we would all have.

How about a Costa coffee? Maybe a mocha with whipped cream on top? πŸ«πŸ˜‹

Ideally, with strawberry preserve, Earl Grey tea, and a little Elgar in the background :-)

Yes! Strawberry preserves! I've never acquired a taste for the orange marmalade usually served there.

You're all making me hungry!

What is Elgar, Hidden ?

youtube.com/watch?v=R2-43p3... He's one of Englands finest and most loved composers.

Thanks! Great background music. Let's ask them to play it softly so we can still hear ourselves chat. 😊

Are you from the U.K. too?

I am afraid so, Tutu. But now I call Virginia home and have been over here for a long time. How about you, are you in Hawaii?

Thank goodness my sister-in-law is from England (by way of Ireland) we BOTH love clotted cream! Oh and strawberry preserves on our scones!

Not sure why I love making orange marmalade. Must be the smell my house has afterwards.

I bet it smells good jennie62 . I think we're going to need LOTS of clotted cream and strawberry preserves for our tea time get-together.

jennie62 LOVE orange marmalade! Used to eat it on everything until my tongue acquired "Burning Tongue Syndrome", and now it burns my tongue! We shall not dwell on what foods can no longer eat but be thankful for what we are able to eat, but I do love orange marmalade!

LOTS of CLOTTED CREAM WAshingtongirl LOL! Oh yeah, where can I find some in Upstate New York?

I know exactly how you feel with burning tongue syndrome agapepilgrim ! Too many times I wind up with that because of the foods/drinks I fall in love with - oranges being one.

Wish I could make some marmalade just for the smell!

Y'all are making me hungry. And I wish I could still make marmalade, strawberry jam, and other sweets.

Wow, didn't think you could get clotted cream in the US.. I made some scones the other day (nothing like what you can get in the UK) and really missed the clotted cream.

I found it at Jenson's, a nice/specialty grocery store, in California. How about you make the scones and I bring the clotted cream?

Sounds like fun. I need to find out the proper British recipe. If anyone in the UK has a good one I'd like to try it. The best place we had for scones was Betty's Tea Room in Harrogate. I'm sure they wouldn't give away theirs.

Actually my wife has challenged me to make my own clotted cream... I might just have to do it.

You'll have to let us know how it goes. I tried a recipe for Devonshire cream years ago. I think it had cream cheese in it. Nothing like the real thing!
