OCREVUS and weight gain
I am just now going through the application process to see if I can get on Ocrevus but in all my research I have not heard of anyone who had weight gain. How long have you been on it? I would love to hear of any other side effects you have had as I’m still weighing my own options. Have you tried Mayzent of Mavenclad? Those were two others my doctor mentioned after he suggested the Ocrevus. I haven’t been on a DMT for years, not since Copaxone and then IV Steroids. I wish you the best and hope to hear more about your journey.
None of the m ones I heard the side effects are way worse than OCREVUS, I’m back on Avonex the dinosaur 🦕 one.
Nope, I was in the process of losing weight when I got the infusion and continued to lose 12lbs before the next dose was due. BMI seems to be important for the drugs effectiveness.
I look at Rituximab too when I want to know about side effects, etc.
I googled does Ocrevus cause weight gain and there were a few people that have stated they indeed did gain weight and someone wrote they even skipped breakfast. I for one have I look pregnant but I’m going to be 63 in November and I’m sure as heck I’m not pregnant I’ve gain all in my belly went from a size 6 pants to a 10 and I’m being very vigilant what I am eating. Sooooo idk but check out what some folks are saying about there weight gain while on it I find it interesting.
Wow, that’s horrible! I use to live with 3 sizes of clothes due to IBS life and belly misery, so I’m truly sorry. Did anyone say low long it lasts?
Go to users review on Ocrevus very interesting.
Do u have a link to that? Thank you
On Ocrevus. No weight gain for me but people in the Ocrevus FB site do report it. I do get swelling after an infusion,
For the three years I've been on Ocrevus I have just gained and lost 10-15 pounds a few times (same as I have done for the past 15 years). I have been working on losing it again for the past 2 months and I actually was able to lose it easier than I thought I would since it is really difficult for me to physically exercise to a level that would help with weight loss. The diet that is easiest for me to follow is low carb. I also use My Fitness Pal to track what I eat to help stay on track. I did low carb for about a month and lost 12 pounds and have just been keeping calories down since then. Hit a plateau but am starting to lose again.
It is so difficult to know what causes symptoms. Could be meds, could be MS or another illness. Lots of anecdotal evidence out there. Speaking of anecdotal; I had a hysterectomy at the end of January so gained about 10 pounds from the inactivity afterward. Finally back down and even about 5 pounds less than before the hysterectomy.
Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you to get the weight back off.
I didn’t know Ocrevus causes weight gain! Sorry that you’re experiencing that
quite the opposite. I felt that my appetite is off since I've taken Ocrevus.
But we all react differently to MS and DMT so it might be that in your case, it does the opposite.
No, quite the opposite, but I'm blaming Modafinil for my weight loss.
I have been on "O" since June 2018. I have put on 25lbs and can't get it off. Have tried diets that have worked for me in the past, but they don't seem to work now. My specialist says he hasn't heard of "O" causing weight gain either. I have gotten to the point that I don't care, and am going to do whatever I want.
Sorry that it has happened to you too.
I have gained and lost, but I think it is from eating too much comfort foods and not being active enough,I don't think it is Ocrevus
Nope...no weight gain and I’ll be getting Infusion #5 in Dec. I’m 62. The weight gain could be a number of things. It could be related to the steroids given as pre-meds for example. I’m always bloated for a day or so following the infusion but then back to normal.
I haven't experienced any wright gain. I will take my second full dose this coming Thursday. I do get a little swelling from the steroids but that goes way in a day or two.
I have had no real weight gain or loss I will be having my 2nd full dose in Dec this year. I have for years played with 5 - 10 lbs. up & down. Depends on how I feel as to what's happening
I just had my first two infusions of Rituxan in July and have been a candy/pita chips junkie since! Mine had some Benadryl and Steroids in it. I blame the steroids. I had almost broke the candy habit and all the Halloween Candy broke my will!😊😜
Yes!! I had my second infusion which is the full one this January. Started in July and am now the heaviest I have ever been! I was always a healthy weight and on the lower end of the BMI for my height and age and now I gained 20 lbs!!
I can’t get the weight off so depressing.
I have had significant weight gain. 10 lbs after 1st two half doses and now another 5 in the last 3 weeks since my 1st full dose.
I watch my carb intake, low sugar, low dairy and I try to walk a mile every day. Cardio is difficult but I might have to get an exercise bicycle. I am Post menopausal so that’s an issue as well. I lost weight when taking Plegridy ( 20 lbs) and I bruised terribly on that injection.
I may go back on Tecfidera if my weight keeps increasing.
I have had 4 full infusions. I was losing weight when I cut out sugar, gluten and dairy (at the same time I started Ocrevus, to the point where my PCP told me she didn't want me to lose any more weight). Now I think I have gained weight (stay at home order).
I have not heard of this drug's significant side effects, such as weight gain. If you have started to gain weight, you may have started to eat too much or move a little. I recommend that you try to do the simplest physical exercises, walk more, and monitor what you eat and how much you eat during the day. You can also use PureRawz purerawz.co/ supplements for weight loss, but before you do this, be sure to consult with your doctor. Perhaps some of the drugs you take are incompatible with weight loss supplements.
