Been MIA from here for a year. Actually forgot I joined. 😥But,I'm back with 2 new symptoms. Would LOVE any feedback.
I have developed extreme fatigue. Out of nowhere it hits me and I need to lay down within minutes. I get so sick to stomach a d vertigo hits bad. I even have bouts where I have begun to fall asleep while sitting and just begin to lean forward and almost fall on face. Hit bathroom wall this am while sitting to pee. This is not only excruciatingly embarrassing but makes my pain worse due to stress I have over it. I look like a drug addict going down! Being referred to a sub specialist at MS Clinic in Pittsburgh and having a new MRI/BRAIN &C SPINE. The whole thing just scares the hell out of me. Anyone out there who has dealt with anything like this??

I'm glad you're back, but so sorry about these new symptoms. It's good you're getting to see a specialist, and I hope he/she is able to help you. Please let us know what you find out and how you're getting along.
Hey, glad you're back & also so sorry you're dealing w/ these stupid new symptoms, it kinda sounds like Cataplexy too, I would definatley see a specialist & ask about it... Let us know, keep us UpD8ed k...
Welcome back! Yes, I have been there and done that. It is scary, and I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. I am so glad that you are seeing the Dr. and getting the MRI's, as they will help find you the right treatment. I still deal with fatigue, but nothing like the days when I would fall asleep while I was mopping
the kitchen floor! Yes, I did, more than once...there are treatments and medications, and you will feel better! You are doing all the right things, gnugirl, so stay strong. Angels watch over you. Please let us know how you are doing!
leking1- Thank you . Do you know if the falling asleep issue was caused by a new lesion or if they ever determined a cause. The neurologist I have now tries to find a reason something is happening. With my old one everything and anything was the MS,except the pain,he told me MS doesn't cause any pain.
I am assuming with this symptom and symptoms that never seem to go away, there is progression. It will be extremely hard for me to wait for this apt and some answers.
I did not have any new lesions. My RRMS had become SPMS a few years before this, and my Neurologist said that she thought I had activated some old lesions. I tried a number of medications, and I am now taking Modafinial ( generic Provigil), which works for me. I hope that you can find what works for you!
Welcome back! I often fall asleep on the toilet, I mean like 4 times a week. Once I fell off and split my forehead, so I understand your concerns. One year for our anniversary, my ex-husband took me to the very best restaurant ($) in Salt Lake. I actually fell asleep in my food! I was mortified.
This fatigue can hit anywhere. I hope your consultation provides some answers. In my prayers. Love, Kelly xx
I am sorry you have to deal with that. I understand the embarrassment. My husband is fantastic and will gently touch me and talk to me so no one seems to notice. It is still embarrassing. And I'm sure some see what's going on. Love and prayers to you Kelly
Sorry to hear about your symptoms. The only thing that helped my fatigue was nutrition - I cut out sugar, gluten and dairy. It is unbelievable what that stuff does to us! Good luck.
absolutely. the fatigue is indescribable. i fell asleep standing up once and woke up when i hit the floor. as soon as i sat down i'd be asleep. it's part of why by the time i was 28 i was on ssdi. for me it was totally disabling and no drugs worked.
My neurologist prescribed Gabapentin for my vertigo and it is helping. I have had a couple episodes that last a few minutes and leave me nauseated for a while but I had gone down to once a day so just bumped it up to twice a day and hoping it stops.
I am already taking Gabapentin, 700mg daily. It doesn't seem to work for this. Oh well, We'll figure it out, I am sure of that. Good luck to you too, I pray the meds do their job. Love and prayers
Mine is prescribed for 300mg three times a day but I didn't want to take it that often unless I really needed it. I tried Dramamine but that didn't help. It could be non MS related and maybe eat nose throat doctor can help?
Hi Gnugirl , I too feel like I'm having the extreme fatigue symptoms. I've always been a sleepy head but I don't know if it's that still and it's getting worse or is this a new symptom for me. I too thought it was one of my medications so I talked to my neurologist and it's been adjusted but it's not getting any better. All week I have needed to go home and take a nap if I'm gonna be any good the rest of the day. I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this and hope that you get the answers that you need from your specialist!
Thank you. I've decided that I'll continue going back to this doctor until I get answers. He's going to find out really quick that I also don't take I don't know as an answer from any doctor unless they are referring me to a doctor that does know what's going on. I have a slightly different feeling about today than I did yesterday m I sat and prayed on it, I definitely know the Lord won't put something in front of me that I can't deal with our tackle. So it's just a waiting game as to when I can get in see what he thinks about the MRIs we go from there.
I have been dealing with unwanted advances from every wall in my house lately, so yes I know what u mean. A lot of people frown upon pills but they have things that can help, such as meds for vertigo. If ur not a script taker then maybe something natural may help. It helps me.
