My Goldie is now 4 mths. We work together all the time and heaven knows I've learned so much.
From internet reading she now knows commands, .house broke in 3 days ๐sit,down,stay,wait,get it, bring it,focus, mat(her traveling mat to keep her close)chair, crate, bed (she has two),leave it,hide. She'll start real job training at 6mths. She'll need x rays first to be sure she's strong enough to lift me.
Apparently she'll need/have 40+ commands. During all of this she still allowed to be a puppy. I refuse to take her puppy hood away. So we work in 5-10 min intervals and then play each hour, (when she's awake.)
If I thought this through a little better I may bought one already trained. Its a huge commitment and so far so good. Finally sleeps through the night so I'm already feeling better about the choice I made...I have no doubt we got this

My a Aussie puppy is 5 months old now and I've been training him myself also. Are you following a specific internet program? I just discovered the McCann dog training school videos on YouTube. Good luck.
That's amazing!! Keep up the great work! It's been 8yrs and my lab still doesn't get that he needs to sit when we come to a crosswalk!๐ Hooverd65 ๐ค๐๐
Having a dog requires a lot of patience, determination, and love! By the sounds of it, you have all three. If you can, please post a photo of Goldie if you can.
Hooverd65, please do keep telling us how you are doing and how the training is coming along. I've been thinking about getting another Golden. My Wrecks would dump me over in his exuberance before he realized he really shouldn't. He was a fine dog. A really fine dog.
I am thinking about getting a dog and Goldens are my favorite. I read your post and I am wondering how you and Goldie are doing. I realize your post was 5 years ago and hope that all is going well for you.
