My closest cousin has his hands full right now and can use all the good thoughts you can send his way.
His father-in-law moved in with them some months back. The man is still ambulatory but needs reminders for things like eating and bathing. He can't be left alone for more than a couple hours at a time.
His youngest daughter lives across the country. She went to visit her soldier husband in Korea over the holidays, and something happened involving enormous blood loss and emergency surgery. She'll be okay now and is flying back home. Cousin dropped his wife off at the airport this afternoon, and she'll be helping their daughter until she's back on her feet.
Cousin's oldest brother is a Vietnam vet who's been in the hospital since before Christmas. They've now discovered that he's full of cancer, particularly his liver, spine, and blood marrow. He's reached the point of no longer eating or speaking. Cousin wrote to me about all of this from the hospital room as he waits for the end.
He does have 2 other brothers who live nearby, so he's not without support right now, but I feel bad because the rest of us are far away and can't help.
