The past couple of days have been beautiful after the nasty rain & tornados. So my husband & I were out working in the yard this morning. There was a low spot in the yard that I wanted to fill so I shoveled some dirt into a wheelbarrow. As I was pushing it over to the low spot it started to tip over. So rather than letting it go I tried to keep it from falling. BIG mistake! I took me down with it & I landed on my left arm, broke my wrist! I made it 64 years without breaking any bones until now. I have an appointment with an Ortho Dr on Friday. I'm praying there won't be any surgery. My PCP thinks I might. Hope she is wrong. I was trying to find something positive from this to be grateful for. I am grateful that I didn't land on my face like the last time I fell or break a leg or hip! There is always something positive in everything. Sometimes you just have to dig a little deeper to find it!

Beautiful weather now, BUT....
Sorry to hear about your wrist 😔. I know just let go but that’s hind sight. Hope no surgery 🙏😉. Ken 🐾🐾
I am sorry to hear of your broken wrist. I broke mine at age 62 so my empathy is deep. Let us know how you progress. Now about that wheelbarrow: no, no, no, no. no! When I had my 20 acre place, a shifting wheelbarrow load pulled me down several times. Fortunately, I didn't break anything but I did decide NOT to use a wheelbarrow to move heavy or unstable loads. Get a two wheeled cart from a garden supplier -- they have large bicycle wheels on either side of a high sided box and they are much more stable. Now, I use a flat, 4 wheeled nursery cart (a wagon without sides). It works very well pulled across the field loaded with 100# of layer mash for the hens.
I know what it is like to tell yourself"I can do this",well ,now you know that was incorrect.Hope noooo surgery, you are right it could have been worse.I fell years ago and broke both arms, that was very yucky!
I'm so sorry about the fall and broken wrist. Please let us know what you find out from the appointment with the ortho doctor. And please be careful!
I'm sure it was instinct that caused you to fall this way. So sorry and hope you heal quickly and painlessly!
I am sorry to hear about your wrist. I do the same thing and try to catch everything. Sometimes we just gotta learn to let things go for our safety. I will keep you in my prayers. Please be careful.
I am so sorry you fell & broke your wrist I hope every thing is better now. Congratulations on making 64 years before breaking a bone. I broke my arm when I was 5 learning how to roller skate then again when I was 7 playing on a jungle gym.
Yes well you had your share of boo boos. I had a lot of those too, now we are older BUT I am not any more graceful than I was growing up just bigger and more aches ouch. I haven't had any hard falls lately I try to watch but ...
