Funny family , I've been busy adapting to my new routine. After the hospitalization in early April I haven't gotten my full strength back and I needed to be around people instead of home alone all day. After checking Lily facilities to having people come in to spend a few hours a day with me we found out the price was more than our budget could allow. Out of the blue I got my husband to stop by and we checked out our local Senior Center. IFinding the senior center was an answer to our prayers.
One half of the senior center was actually an adult Day program that I started out at where for a reasonable price per day an LPN ran the program and you could go Monday through Friday with assistance. Where are the private firms that came into her home cost about an average of $20 an hour I started at the senior center for a mere $50 for the entire 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. day. I did that on Monday Wednesday and Fridays and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I did at home physical therapy.
On this Wednesday I switch to the actual Senior Center side which you do have to be 60 years old or older to participate in. It is only from 8 a.m. 2 about 12:30 p.m. Monday Wednesdays and Friday's. The really awesome part about the senior center side is on Tuesdays and Thursdays they will take you on errands. They even have a mobility bus I can pick you up from your house and take you back home.
Who knew they offered so many great options! If you are in need of assistance during the day or if you're bored being home alone, check out your local Senior Center. You'd be amazed what they offer and the actual Senior Center side is free of charge! They do ask for a minimal fee of $3 round trip when they pick you up by the bus and if you eat with them, $1.50 per meal! The day is full of socialization, games, and simply being around other people your own age. Of course for you young whippersnappers this won't work since there is age requirement of 60. However if you need do you need more assistance, the adult day program has a minimum age of 21.
Check your senior program out , if you need assistance during the day when no one's home or if you're over 60 and simply bored of being a home alone with no one to interact with. Hopefully the area you live in offers as nice program is the county I live in. I simply didn't know about the activities and programs they so close to home, do you?
