Relief from Sinus Pressure

Well, May is here to signal the return of my dreaded sinus issues. 😭 I am sneezing with an itchy throat and have a major headache due to the congestion. I thought it may be allergies at first, but when I went to the allergist I was told that I don’t have any allergies. Yay? Anyways, I have nasal spray (so-so), a Nettie Pot (scared to use it), and sinus medication. I want to know if anyone else deals with this and if so, what do you do to relieve the symptoms?

My husband's sinus infections went away after he had surgery due a deviated septum. Hope that you feel better soon.

I use a Nettie Pot, but I have reverse osmosis super clean water...drug stores sell sterile water you can use to be safe. I also use a xylitol nasal spray and neosynephrine. Sometimes a hot shower helps too. If it’s really bad, I use all of the above and the pseudoephedrine from behind the counter.

Thank you! I had never heard about Neo-Synephrine, so I will definitely look into it.

I don’t think CVS sells it, but Walgreens might. I order it from Amazon.

My allergies are year round now that I have moved to MI, but this year they have been really bad already which I have heard that this year was going to be bad for them. I use Flonase spray when it gets really bad along with Alka-Seltzer Plus severe sinus, cold, and cough pills. This combo seems to really help. They also sell it in a powder you can mix into water. Flonase can now be purchased in any drug store, you don't need an rx. I purchase mine on Amazon as I have found cheaper prices there. I'm a prime member so it gets here in 2 days and I try to keep it on hand so I don't have to wait.

Hope you feel better soon.

This may sound a bit weird but it works for my family and I. We got the recipe from the news paper years ago. 1 can chicken broth, 3 garlic cloves, cayenne pepper (as much as you can stand) and one lemon. Boil the chicken broth with crushed garlic and cayenne pepper for a few minutes put lid on pan and let steep for awhile. Pour in a large mug and add lemon juice.. Get comfortable and sip from the mug as you breath in the steam until the mug is empty. Use as needed, I hope it works for you.
