Immune suppressed and being around kids

I'm going on Ocrevus tomorrow and I also have a 2 year old nephew who always seems sick. What do you all do to prevent getting all kinds of sick when you are on immunosuppressants?

Although I have been sick more often this winter (I don’t think ocrevus is to blame, I would have caught them all anyway), I have not been more sickly or miserable than usual...I know that isn’t much, but I was scared I’d have little to fight a virus with and not be functional, but that’s been far from reality.

If I know someone is sick and I can, I'll stay away. I don't share any food or drinks. I wash my hands often during cold and flu season. I am not on any drugs for MS but I do notice that when I get sick,it affects my MS as well as my blood sugars.(I'm type 1 diabetic)

That’s a good question. What I do is try my best to limit my contact with small children (my are grown), wash my hands often, use hand sanitizers, spray disinfectant (spray everything) all the time and eat plenty of garlic (natural antibiotic).

He said you are not at greater risk 🤷‍♀️

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else, experienced just the opposite thing... I don't know if it started before or after getting M.S., Hospital sized doses of immune killing drugs, or years of interferons? But I haven't gotten sick even once in 20-25 years, except last year, briefly, which I looked at as a really good thing? Every thing else M.S. wise is going great! Asked doc's a long time ago, never got a real answer.

stay away from sick people as much as you can. Wash your hands often and try to not touch your lips/face with your hands. It has worked for me so far (knock on wood) despite my immune system being more knock down than expected with Ocrevus.

Stay away from sick people, but if you run into them, take a high dose of vitamin C right away. And you should be on vitamins C and D anyway,

I was diagnosed 5 years ago and have been on Ocrevus for 3 years. I have only had one mild cold in that time. Studies have shown zinc helps more than vitamin C. I prefer Cold Ease to Zicam. If my throat starts to feel scratchy I suck on a lozenge. I am a nurse so around sick people quite a bit and haven't had a problem. I do get a flu shot every year and wash my hands at work all the time. I think a healthy diet helps too. Best to get your vitamins from food if you can
