Looking for stain removal suggestions

One of the girls white athletic skorts got a blue pen mark on it while we were in Dallas in July. Its 88% polyester 12% spandex. They (I) were in panic mode & we didn’t have white nail polish so I tried a white out pen - then a white out roller. Obviously made it worse - hasn’t (can’t) be worn since.🤣 Any suggestions other than bleach to take the white out & pen stain out? It’s already ruined so I don’t care if bleach makes a hole. Thought it was worth checking with the experts😄 -Kris

I've read somewhere that rubbing alcohol can remove ink. I haven't tried this though,so I can't say for sure.

Thx! Worth trying b4 bleach. Guessing it would take white out also.😂

I wondered about the White Out and found this:

Steps to Remove the White-Out:

Begin by scraping away as much of the white out as possible using the spoon.

Next, apply some WD-40 or Windex to both sides of the stained area and rub it in with your fingers.

Allow it to set for a few minutes and then scrub it gently with a sponge or soft cloth.

Awesome! While looking for rubbing alcohol I found a container of

oxi clean...never knew we had it! Remove white out & then wash with oxi clean? I’m not good with decisions.🤣

I'd first try to get the white-out off, then go at the ink, then wash.If you open the washer and see nothing there, that means it completely disintegrated!

So far so good! As soon as I sprayed the windex the white out changed from hard crust to a thicker foam type stain...finger crossed!!! Thx again!

Hair spray removes ink & the oxi clean if u use it rub it in on the spot let it sit or put the machine on soak let soak over night the wash

Thx. The windex (bc I couldn’t reach the wd-40) seemed to take part of the white out & darker stain out - just put in washer with oxi clean. It used her to be her “MOJO” skort. Team USA trials next week. Trying to do everything I can to help...which isn’t much.

I use hairspray on my lab coat ink stains. Works well but must do before washing.

Think I bought one @ a garage sale. Was it soft cover with a white front & a green bug on the right side? Not sure if I still have it. Also bought a couple for dan - home improvements for dummies & computer for dummies - he didn’t appreciate them🤣 (for the record - his IQ is higher than his brothers...his brother used to work for NASA)🤣

No mine is different it just has the title one the front

Nevermind found mine (next to my cookbooks & home improvement for dummies...even tho I know how to fix things🤣) - it’s “Club the bugs & scare critters”. Gross🤢

rjoneslaw Went through the same thing this morning with Hailey’s white skort...here’s the text she sent me: “can you grab my white skirt off the floor in my room and put it in the washer ? i got nail polish and mascara on it” 😱😱😱 I soaked it in an ice cream bucket with super hot tap water & 4 scoops of oxiclean for 4 hours. The stains were still there...until I rubbed the stains & poof they were gone! Hailey’s skort was 100% polyester which I think made the difference. -Kris

I've soaked stained whites in a small bucket of really hot water and a cup or so of powdered dishwasher detergent and let it soak for a couple of hours, then launder as usual if the stain came out. I've been amazed at what stains have come out with that technique.

The stain is still there so I will try this. If it doesn’t work-will try bleach. I have a less potent bathroom bleach spray I would try. Only paid $3.99 for the Nike skort @ goodwill but she hasn’t been able to find another one (b4 they leave Tuesday). Thx! -Kris

I would wet the spot with hot water, then cover the area with Dawn dishsoap. Keep it moist, scrub with your hands and spray Clorox bleach on the area, scrub again then launder. If it doesn’t all come out, don’t dry it. but try process again. Hope you get the stain out.

Try a Naptha bar in the detergent aisle..you can buy one at any Walmart and they are very inexpensive.

I always find soaking biro stains in milk(cow's) brings the stain out but it has to soak overnight at least. :-)

what I have found that helps me with ink.put a paper towel underneath area ,pour rubbing alcohol out of the bottle, and use another paper towel while it is wet and push through to under paper towel, don't rub just press good luck

My 2 cents:

Try using nail polish remover instead. Apply some to a cotton ball and wipe the affected areas with the solution. Once the ink stains are gone, wash skin with soap and water. Nail polish remover can also eliminate ink stains on the drum of your clothes dryer.

I've used nail polish remover with a few ink stains on my jeans when I was in highschool and it work. 😊 I totally forgot about it. Good Job on your 2 cents! 😊❤🌷
