They had to stab me three times to find a vein in order to inject the contrast for my MRI: Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar spine. Glad it's over but gonna be sore and black and blue for a few days for sure! 😦
OUCH!!: They had to stab me three times to... - My MSAA Community
OUCH!!
U know you can get an mri w/o contrast. I don’t get because I’m allergic to it. The 1st and only time it was given my arm swell up for 2 weeks and the pain subsided after a month
There is a lawsuit that has been filed because of the side effects of the contrast
Wow! Thanks for the info @rjoneslaw! I always thought that the contrast was necessary for the radiologist to see more detail and clarity on the MRI. How would they be able to see that without the contrast (dye) injection? Seems like new/old lesions, etc. wouldn't be visible without the contrast?
Ouchy!! Bamfan, 😮 So sorry bout all that! Yeah, I'd ask for a butterfly, & RJ is right too, they can C...😍👍Hope & Pray🙏 that itt gets better! 😍Love Ya!❤💗--Jazzy🌹💜
It's tough having poor veins. I always used to feel terrible if I had to stick someone twice. Now that you know, you can warn lab people to use every trick in the bag.
Hey Bamfan1442
There is a rule in MA that healthcare providers are not allowed to stick you more than two times for drawing blood. I don’t know what happens after two ‘stabs’ as I have not been a hard one to stick. But I have had some serious bruises after the fact due to ‘aggressive’ or ‘sloppy’ phlebotomists. Hopefully, your ‘stick’ wounds will heal soon and you will be back to wearing sleeveless dresses!
Keep Smiling,
Carole
Bamfan1442 Ouch, indeed! If the bruising and swelling draws attention, make up a good story...I was at the zoo when one of the serpents escaped. In trying to wrestle it back into its display case, I was snakebit! Yet another MS heroic episode. I hope the injury (and your memory of the attack) fade soon.
My wife has problems with any infusion and they use some kind of ct machine that you’re veins show up bright blue so they can see veins clearly 👍. Och, good luck next time 🙏👍😉. Ken 🐾
Aren't you glad that's over! I'm a super hard stick so I always dread it. My contrast usually goes in the backs of my hands because that's where they can find it. It hurts more but at least it's only once!
Ouch! Hurts to look at it. The lady that did mine a couple of weeks ago. This lady was not gentle and I ended up with a bruise but NOTHING like yours. They can only draw blood out of my right arm because of when I had a blood clot in 2007 and I had an iv in my right arm and they could only draw blood out of my left arm. It was A LOT of blood they drew and ever since then they can never find a vein in that arm.
Hope you heal soon,
Jessie
