I would go look at the newly diagnosed (newbie)section it details what I am going to say in short but more detailed form.
I am not any kind of medical professional. I have had Relapsing-Remitting ms(RRms) for twenty years and have always been on a disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) I Live with a young woman who has the same condition for twenty-three years so I have a little experience even if I do not have the titles to go along with the illness or all the answers. Just mine.
So listen to what I say and if it resonates do it. If it does not then ignore it, I will not be upset. "YOU" will find this repetitive and somewhat preachy at times, It is meant to be, I did not make a mistake. O I also have no financial interest in where "YOU" spend your money, if I mention somebody that is where I spend mine, feel free to read "AMAZON". I wish I could have bought shares in them on the olden days.
The goal of what I am saying is to give "YOU" ideas on how to "PROTECT" yourself. The aim is always to "PROTECT" yourself. First, start a diary\logbook\notes of your medical ms journey. It may be important to know what procedures, medicines "YOU" took and their effects in ten years time. Besides, it gives "YOU" something else to concentrate on.
Start wearing protective underwear. I know "YOU" do not need it but, are "YOU" mentally strong enough to soil yourself in public? Think about that, it does happen with RRms. Around the house who cares, in the mall better to be safe than sorry.
That is the immediate physical things that "YOU" can do, and are actually pretty easy. The not so easy is the "MENTAL" game. "YOU" have to start strengthening yourself for this condition. It is a lifelong journey and it is far from nice and flat. More like walking over neverending hills and valleys. Find lots of positive things, successes that can strengthen "YOU" in times of trouble. Open yourself a bank account that "YOU" can put a shiny piece of gold into every time that "YOU have a success or achieve a goal. Try to fill that vault as much as "YOU" can "YOU" may need those good memories one day. Challenging at first but "YOU" will start to get it and there will be positive achievements
