Muscle Relaxer

Has anyone tried a muscle relaxer for spasticity other than Baclofen? My doctor keeps saying “it’s the best” but it just doesn’t seem to work at all for me. I’ve taken Norflex and it’s bettered; but it’s still not great.... I’ve never even ever seen anywhere that anyone takes that one.

My leg muscles and feet keep me up on and off all night and I just cannot sleep; which in turn makes it worse the next day 😢

I tried Baclofen, was WAY to druggey for me. My then, neurologist said that my body just needed to build up a tolerance to it. Tried it for 5 more days and threw in the towel. I was only taking it for spasticity (not pain). I switched to CBD and THC and that works so much better. But again I'm not experiencing any pain and I thought if I had any then Baclofen would probably be a godsend.

I know some individuals here take RX for pain and hopefully they will pipe in with what works for them.

4krobh I take Baclofen 20 mg, 1mg of Tizanidine in the am and 2mg at night and more recently my new neuro added Tegretol 200mg to help instead of increasing the Baclofen. A past Neuro added the Tizanidine because Baclofen was not relieving the painful spasm alone.

Have you ever tried Aspracream it comes in a tube or you can roll it on it also doesn’t smell. I find the cream works

better. Granted it doesn’t work all the time but try it out.

I do take baclofen but only 10mg once every other day, right before I go to bed. Not as prescribed, but I have discussed with my neuro and she is okay with that. I also take Magnesium (as Dimagnesium Malate) 500mg, twice a day. I also have used magnesium lotion when my knee or back acts up. It helps. :-D

Yeah, Carole is right 4krobh, Magnesium cream is good, i love my "Green Lotus Hemp Cream & my cbd dark-chocolate bars. That helps my pain. & what we eat will cause pain, my all natural diet helps pain, any dairy, gluten (wheat) can cause spacisity & pain, Ouch! So, we need to clean out our Leaky guts, whenever our guts are clogged, it clogs our brains. They are connected. Love, Prayers & Blessings👍💪🙏💕💓❤💗---Jazzy🌹💜

Baclofen has never been a good fit for me because it causes me terrible headaches. I have used Klonopin for years for spasticity, but a lot of drs stays away from benzodiazepines. It works fabulous for me, no side effects. Kelly

I take Flexeril, 10 mg, as needed, but doesn't help much. I see my PCP on Oct 2, going to ask her about switching to something different, until I can get in to see an MS neuro for a second opinion. Insurance said I need a referral from her in order to see one.

Baclofen and Zanaflex are 2 of the primary central acting musc. relaxers. And likely the best.

Norflex, skelaxin, robaxin are mostly just sedating.

Flexeril is a little better than those because it also has tricyclic properties that aid things like fibromyalgia.

Valium is also a good muscle relaxer.

Soma is meprobamate and has some centrally acting properties.
