Hi friends! Been off here for a while had data issues with my stupid phone! Anybody know how/where I can get a free cane, walker or shower chair? My balance is getting worse, fell a couple times but can't get in to see my doctor till October 2nd. Still waiting to find and make appt with an MS specialty neuro for 2nd opinion to confirm diagnosis, that's taking new patients and accepts my insurance. I've called MiEnrolls for Medicaid and MI DHHS caseworker, no luck yet. TIA!❤

Hiya Bamfan1442 welcome back! Check out

mymsaa.org and fill out an application and see if they can help. ☺️

You can also call Office of the Aging. If you have something like that around.

I got my cane on Amazon. They have a ton of cute ones that are really cheap.☺️

How ya doing??🤗💕

Thanks Jesmcd2 ! I'm thinking it might be a little more than just CIS, (Clinically Isolated Syndrome), like the sports neuro diagnosed me with last fall. I have been having vertigo (I get dizzy) and losing my balance a lot lately, tremors in hands and legs with painful spasms, numbness and tingling. Worse than I was a year ago for sure! 😲🤕

If it's getting that bad and your getting hurt, then your PCP should be able to write you a script? Bamfan1442

Are you going to the ER at all? Keeping notes?

Hi Jesmcd2 ! Not sure what scrip I should ask her to write for me. No DMT until I can see an MS specialty neuro. I'm already on Cymbalta (90 mg/day), 800mg Ibuprofen every 8 hrs, and Flexeril (10 mg 3x/day. Not helping at all for my recent increase in symptoms. 😖

Flexeril makes you tired? And muscle relaxer? Causes dizziness! 😒

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

Dizziness

Dry mouth

If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by this medicine, tell your doctor.

Bamfan1442 as far as finding an MS CLINIC/Specialist, have you called MSAA yet? They should be able to to give you some names. 😀 (800) 532-7667 ext. 154

Let me know ok? 🤗💕

Thanks Jesmcd2 for the link! I will call the nurse tomorrow and let her know. Will MSAA be able to help me without a definitive diagnosis? That is the reason I want a second opinion. The neuro I saw last fall said I may or may not have MS. He said it was either the first episode (CIS) or neuropathy from vitamin B12 and D deficiency, which were very low. Been getting B12 injections but doesn't seem to be helping either. ❤

Not sure about the assistance devices hun, but they might be able to recommend neuros for you! ☺️ Bamfan1442

A friend gave me a pretty cane after my 1st back surgery. 💕 And I bought my second off Amazon. I had a walker, that went flying down the basement stairs as soon as I got it.😒 Never to be seen again.☺️😚 And the last time someone put me in a wheelchair, I , well didn't have the best reaction.

Check out, Sal vol, Am. Vets, office of the aging, even YMCA Might be able to help tell you where to get one cheap!

My husband got mine at a flea market. They always have a variety of assistance devices for pretty cheap.

check with your local churches i know mine takes in med equipment and check with your local fire department they usually give that stuff away, around here anyway
