My sister is going in for her 2nd hearing for SSDI. She was denied at the first hearing. She has been trying for 14 years to get SSDI. She can not work and really needs to get approved this time. Please pray for her that she will get it.
Thanks!

Bygonlines, it's Fancy1959. Your sister may have already been coached about the social security meeting in front of the judge but if she hasn't I want to give you a few pointers to share with her.
1. Does she have an SSI lawyer? It's a racket I know that we have to have a lawyer to go in front of the judge but it does help. Make sure if she gets one that they have in the firm and he lawyer that specializes were is probably as a security lawyer. That way the lawyer is more familiar with the system and how it works.
2. She needs not to play the part secondly. Dress down do not dress nice put on some worn-out blue jeans and a flannel top or something that's in a lot of wear and some old shoes don't put on makeup and don't do a good job fixing your hair just comb it and let it lay.
3. And finally if she uses a walker or a little later take it in with her. If she doesn't borrow one from someone and take it in with you. It's all about playing the part in making judge see that you really need the money and you look very disabled.
It is ridiculous that we have to make the judge see what he wants to see and dress down and look pitiful. But it does help. If I can provide any additional information let me know. I had my hearing a couple years back. And I had 3 nos before I came to the judge and was finally given SSI. Tell your sister I said good luck and would be praying for her and thinking of her a lot.!
Well, my sister had her hearing yesterday. It was a really strange hearing. She and her lawyer were in the Tri-Cities Washington, the judge was is Spokane Washington and the specialists were in Texas, New York and DC. This was all done through video conferencing. The judge told my sister she would be notified of her decision within the next 9 months. Such a crock! My sister's lawyer said that if she is denied by this judge he and his firm are willing to take her case all the way to the supreme court if need be. This is the 3rd judge she has been before. The first judge denied because she is an overweight woman and depressed. She appealed and drew him again and he again denied her for the same reasons. There has now been several law suits filed against this judge and he has since been disbarred. His record was was if you were a man you had a 95% chance of being approved. Whereas if you are a woman you had a 95% chance of being denied. The one that ended his career was a woman who was a quadraplegic. He denied her, said she was just fat and depressed. Now she has this judge and she didn't get a good feeling from her so she doesn't think she will get it even though social securities own specialists said that she can not work. It's crazy. Hopefully it won't take the full 9 months for the judge to make her decision.
7years for me and the magistrate judge judge in civil court wouldn't overturn the ALJ's decision for the 4th time now. He has figured my Credits wrong so I sent the proper statutes my credit history, evidence why I couldn't work from age 21-26. I had a work Injury and the doctors supposedly couldn't figure out. Went to a competent Dr. in Portland, OR and 2 weeks later I was in Surgery for two thoracic (T5-7) disc laminectomies. On was rubbing on my spinal cord. Praying for your sister! So Social Security is a crooked mess! I got yelled at by the Salem, OR office and was called a freeloader!
