Botox Injections
have a PPms friend that swears by it, but it is not a one shot cure, I think she does it every few months
My mum used to have them every 2/3 years. Worked wonders. Ended up having latex injected, here in the U.K. my mum had it injected awake, but my friend in Canada just had it, and they gave her a general. I think the duration that it lasts depends on the individual. Let us know how you get on, blessings Jimeka 🦋
Irish81449, it's Fancy1959. I do not recall ever have spoken to you before. So I would like to officially welcome you to this awesome chat room. And you have found a safe place to come and ask questions, seek information, or simply speak to others who truly understand what you and your wife are going through.
As far using BOTOX for bladder issues my urologist just didn't recommend it. He said that the botox would only increase the amount of urine that I can hold but it wouldn't help with my sudden urges and inability to control them. So I guess it depends on how your wife's condition reacts to Bladder pressure. When she has to go does she have to go like a minute ago and she can't hold it? If that's the case then my neurologist at least didn't think Botox would be the answer. Talk to her urologist and see what he or she thinks. That's the only information I can share with you Irish. Hope it helps. Glad I talked to you and I hope to talk to you again soon. Tell your wife and you remember to together we are stronger. Fancy.
I have a friend that was in a really bad car accident and became incontinent. She has had good results with Botox. Best to you and your bride, thank you for taking care of her. My husband is learning to help me more and more as my ms is slowly progressing.
This may not be appropriate for your wife but they are now approving the use of 2 UI meds together (Santura which is similar to Toviaz and Myrbetriq). They have different mechanisms of action and while both are only mild to moderately successful individually, they are somewhat more effective together.
Interestim is another alternative for UI, but again may not be appropriate for your wife and because it’s an implantable device, it may not be desirable. I’ve seen it work and not work in some.
I have read Botox can be mild- to mod effective but as Fancy1959 said, requires repeat injections.
There are other slightly stronger meds in the Toviaz class (antimuscarinics) but they have more dry mouth, constipation associated. Ditropan is what I’m thinking of.
Hope she gets some relief!
