It started last night. I said to myself before I go to sleep I will do my challenge walk

Saturday morning. There I went with my headsets and 2 water bottles. What a

great feeling it was!

Have you ever tried walking in the mall or a store where there

is airconditioning?

The Mall is a great idea. I never thought of that. I might spend some money window shopping. 😊❤🌷

There are a few things in life that we can't control and weather is one of them.

Stay Cool.

Awesome! I wanted to do some walking while in GA, but travel plus poor sleep says NOPE.

lbenmaor profile image
lbenmaor in reply to kdali

kdali,

What's good is that you thought about it and realized maybe poor sleep

might be in the way, but you will do it another day.

Yeah, I’ve learned not to push my luck! My vision is wonky today, that’s usually my litmus test.

Are you still feeling well this evening after your walk earlier?

lbenmaor profile image
lbenmaor in reply to kdali

kdali,

Yes, thanks for asking. What makes it hard for me is when I walk

downhill not uphill so I make sure I include that in some of my

walks.

That is an Inspiration, before ms, I would use just 1 ear bud and fully geared up ride my road bike for miles and miles. Good Idea about the head phones, I can go to my local gym and ride a bike or walk a little on a treadmill. I can't stand all the noise and wearing my earphones is a good idea to drown out the gym noise. We should all get a pedometer and see how many steps we take each day. My friend and I, went to breakfast, shopped thrift stores, garage sales and the crafts store today, I just wonder how far we walked. I still need to check out my bargains! Lynn

When I do any walking, with my dog or other distances, I use the app 'Walk For A Dog' and they donate to rescue and it tracks how far you have walked! The app can be downloaded from the app store. The website is wooftrax.com/

Haven't been doing much walking lately because of the heat and some days my neck really bothers me to where I don't walk.

Jessie,

Thanks for the info. Have you tried walking in the mall or a store where there is airconditioning?

Unfortunately, I don't drive and rely on family to get anywhere (they are limited in what they can do) so I'm not really able to do that. So I walk when the weather and body let me do it ;)

Since my addition of Modafinil to my medications I have been playing with the idea of taking walks. With our heat indices of 100+ I have to be able to get up early to be able to even with a cooling vest. (Thank you MSAA) however I still have the ballance issues where my cane may not be sufficient cause I drop it often. I have been looking into the possibility of acquiring a set of forearm crutches for possibly taking some walks. I think it would be preferable over starting back into PT here cause my Medicare and Medicare want to fight with me about paying for stuff. As a matter of fact they are trying to deny my last Ocrevus infusion even though they covered it last year! I went into a panic attack the other day when my Medicare statement arrives telling me that 10k+ was going to be my part. I called the infusion center and they told me that they will take up on my behalf and even if they don't pay I won't be responsible. The lovely woman that works in the billing told me that since they did previously they will win the appeal process. So that's a weight of my shoulders but it sucks when the overseeing agencies don't care what their ridiculous decisions do to people when they are ill and it triggered symptom flare and I'm paying for it regardless.! Arrrgggghhhh

Allen5280,

I forgot to also mention if you are up to walking you can go

to an airconditioned store or mall.

Leslie

Allen5280 profile image

I did read that on your earlier posts, I do ok most of the time at the store as long as I have the strength. I use the cart to stabilize myself but with my anxiety disorder, I avoid stores whenever possible. People can be inconsiderate and rude at times and I miss the great outdoors. J want to get to where I can go to the lake and do my walking. Hopefully with my dog again. She would always go nuts when I said the Lake word... lol one of those parts of life i want to fight to try and get back. God has seen me throught thus far, to be able to walk or talk at all is an astonishment to my doctors, so keeping up the fight!

Thoughts and prayers,

Allen
