Good Question IBIZA and one for your Dr. As it could be anything?

Having problems walking, muscle weakness is part of MS, but only your Neuro can tell you for sure.

If you have been going that long? Then you need to call like right now!

I’d ask my neurologist ASAP. Hip and low back pain were significant symptoms for me at the beginning of my first relapse. But since that kind of pain can be caused by many other things, it would be a good thing to know what is causing it and what you can do about it.

Do let us know what you find out. Feel better quickly!

Good morning IBIZA, it's Fancy1959 and I would like to officially welcome you to this chat room! You're part of our family now and we are so glad you found us. You have found a safe place to come and ask questions, voice concerns, seek information, or simply speak to others who truly understand what you are going through.

Now on to your question about your hip pain. Have you taken any Falls that landed you on that hip 10 or 12 months ago? If so you need to be checked out thoroughly for a stress fracture or worse. That would be my first and my major concern.

Have you had a bone density test? That is a second thing that would greatly help you and help you understand where your bones are in relation to the strength you used to have.

The last thing I could think of would be are you struggling with your balance and or you're walking gait? Have you changed your walking gait? Sometimes something as simple as let's say favoring your right leg due to the reason that something's bothering you with that leg and altering your gait to help alleviate the issues on the right leg will, overtime, cause severe issues with your muscles and your internal skeleton. I know this because I'm monthly go to an do who is a specialist with interest skeletal muscles. He always has to straighten something or loosen something or unknot a muscle due to the fact that I fell again or other issues. He's a wonderful Doctor Who is unbelievably in tune with my body and I always walk out of his office feeling better stronger and walking straighter than when I came in. I hope this "food for thought" helps you or make you look in different directions about why your hip is bothering you so bad. And truly any of the issues I talked about in this reply are probably a direct result of your MS in one way or another! Until we speak again take care of yourself and that hip and remember together we are stronger!

hi IBIZA, some of my earliest symptoms had to do with hip pain. 22 yrs ago the doc thought it was spasms and started me on Baclofen. she was right. so started my affair with Baclofen for which I am most grateful

This could have been written by me! I'm seeing my neuro on Wed. and that will be one of the first things I ask! I had it last fall and said something to my GP at a check-up. He gave me a shot and put me on steroids (after taking an x-ray). That helped but it is back and more painful than ever. Am living on Advil. Pain in my hip that travels up into my lower back and radiates down my leg. Can't wait until Wed.

I was in so much pain Monday that I went to my chiropractor hoping for relief. He moved my leg around and said he felt it was inflammation in the bursa and tendon. Told me to go to the ortho walk in clinic, which I did. Unfortunately they are interns there and the kid there said he didn't know what it was but gave me steroids to take which has helped enormously. (Seeing a hip specialist on Tues.)

Saw the neuro yesterday and was told since it was localized that it probably was something other than MS.
