Hi, I'm Janis and have been reading posts here for a lon time since becoming disabled with PPMS.
After reading posts about life insurance I felt compelled to post.
Please! Read your life insurance policies! I discovered that I was eligible for waiver of premium with my AFLAC policy. Was great to find a positive in the mountain of paperwork required when going on disability.
I now have free life insurance for the amount originally taken out for the rest of my life!
You have to apply for it within a short time of becoming officially disabled, so please know what your benefits are ahead of time if possible. I actually stumbled upon the knowledge without looking for it.
I hope this can help someone to ease the nightmare of disabilty.

Hi Jesmcd2. Thank you for replying. I truly hope my nightmares can help others from going through the same.
Sadly, I'm really not doing well. I have a really bad case of PPMS and some other health issues as a result. I don't have a significant other to help me thru all this, live alone, and can not drive any longer. I live in a small rural town so things such as transportation and just getting outside my four walls are tough. I'm trying my best to fight on my own. Not always very successful. Not looking for pity just maybe a reliable someone who cares.
Hi my friend Janis_b well you came to the right place for caring. We do that well here! π
Let me tell you a secret, having a significant other, is NOT always a good thing.ππ€£π Sometimes feels like twice the work! And Good Lord! If That man gets hurt? (rolling eyes) π π
It's funny you say your from a small town, me to. My neighbor takes me to the stores and stuff also. We could be twins.π It stinks! But think positive my friend!
We are here for you! And hey, if you want a pity party, we can do that also, for about a min. Then,
You're very welcome. I hope this helps you. Just be aware that the insurance company will expect you to go through the "going on disability chain-of-events to a "T." Not easy to do when it's a new process for us.
Good luck and don't ever quit fighting because that's what they want you to do.
I'm fighting prudential now for it. I hear aflac insurance is good. I wish i had applied before being ill. I stuck with prudential through former employer. Initially when you apply for the waiver of premium, you have 180 days from denial notice. You're right, it is good to look into the benefits you pay for. I hope to eventually convinced them that i cannot work so they can refund me all the $353 monthly payments they have deducted from me. Its been hard and stressful fighting for my waiver of premium. All good for them when you are paying when well!
Just wanted to inform you all that I finally won this battle! My attorney made it happen and I am so thankful! It's a shame to have to fight to prove your disability! Keep fighting and don't give up!!!! No one should have to pay the ridiculous amount I was paying, just to have life insurance!
