I am asking a favor of my MS family. I have entered a contest where I have the chance to have my dream come true. I have always, well since I was 8 yrs old, wanted to be a professional genealogist but I haven't had the money for the classes, books, and documents I would need. So I posted a video on you tube and entered. The contest is sponsored by Chip Gaines from Fixer Upper fame. What I would appreciate everyone doing is going to my video and giving it a thumbs up to help increase my chances of at least being a finalist. Thanks everyone!
Cool goal. I didnβt realize there were classes and books for this. My faith (LDS) highly encourages geneology work but admittedly Iβve never gotten the hang of it. The family history center in Salt Lake City, Utah is really neat if you ever get the chance to visit it. Good luck in the contest.
Stacy - I, too am LDS but I wasn't till after high school. I also live in SLC so that makes me in a perfect spot to become a genealogist. I really hope that I win! I will find out tomorrow evening if I am a finalist. Then if I am a finalist I find out if I win on Friday or Saturday. They are picking 2 winners, 1 on Friday night and 1 on Saturday night. Here's hoping and praying!
Professional genealogists make really good money. They start at $80/hr so working part-time I could still make pretty good money.
Done.. Lots of GOOD LUCK towards your goal!!! It's never too late, but life sure kicks us in the butt at times. I will keep my fingers, eyes, and toes crossed! hahaha
Bygonelines You can do it!! I have everything crossed too just remind me why in awhile why my fingers, eyes and toes are crossed-hahaha. Thank you Hidden for reminding me to do this!
Jennie
P.S. Going to be looking around to add my thumbs up! FOUND IT!!! I added a thumbs up!
Thank you everyone for your votes. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the semi-finals. But it was a good experience and I am not sorry I did it. I will just have to come up with another way to get the education I need and want.
