Let's hear it for the caretakers...

My wife is my caretaker, She has a full time job that allows her to work from home. (more than 60 hours a week) I'm confined to a wheel chair and don't live on the floor with her or the kitchen, so she has to climb a flight of stairs to attend to my needs. I try to minimize them, but life gets in the way. I no longer drive so guess who takes me to all the appointments? Anyway I live with a saint. Thank you hon for all you do for me. I know I will pass thinking how lucky I was to have you in my life.

I don't need a lot of care right now, but my husband has been beside me all the way through testing to diagnosis. I know he will be there for me and that relieves a lot of the stress I would otherwise feel. I am glad you have your wife there for you. I hope you tell her what she means to you often.

My husband has always been my source of loving care and support. Even more so now.

It is good that you have such a willing and capable spouse. She deserves lots of praise I am sure.

My husband is 72 years old and has Muscular Dystrophy, wears braces and has balance issues himself so he would not be able to physically care for me, should I need it. We have discussed this and the only thing we can see to do, for either of us, is a nursing facility. That is only if either of us cannot transfer easily from a wheelchair because neither of us could lift the other and lack of dexterity in his hand could make a lift not practical. Our house is pretty much accessible, no steps, wider door frames and our bathroom has a roll in shower, with bars and a bar near the toilet. We do not have roll under counters but they could be added.

downrigger love hearing about caretakers that kick butt! What little deficits I have I am generally able to manage myself, or I am so stubborn and independent that I stay quiet. My husband sees right through my crap and I swear he has a 6th sense about my symptoms. He's a saint 😍

downrigger , your wife is my hero, but you are, too. Recognizing and cherishing the love your wife shows you is so very important. Though anger and frustration are understandable with MS, I pray I never become angry or bitter or push my loved ones away. You both treasure one another, and health issues haven't affected that in a negative way. Hurrah for you both!
