Oh, goodness, parallel park? π± Ask HeidiK . She witnessed my response to having to parallel park. π I'd rather park farther away and walk the extra distance than squeeze in between two cars. My depth perception and distance vision aren't what they used to be! ππ
To be fair, you did really well especially taking into consideration you were driving a right hand sided car and on the wrong side of the road from what you're used to π
Perfect!
Erash, it's Fancy1959. As a supervisor for Fayette County transportation department I had to be able to not only parallel park a school bus but then, train others, new drivers as a matter of fact how to parallel park a school bus. Since then, parallel parking a car doesn't seem like much of a challenge at all anymore. Haha. At least one thing came out of that job!
Fancy1959 you r my hero! I've never been a good driver even when I had to drive Army jeeps, cracker box ambulances and believe it or not, 2 1/2 ton trucks π
You are the Goddess of Parallel Parking! I was able to teach my daughter the K turn and backing in to a parking spot, but PARALLEL PARKING? I shudder with fear just thinking about the few times I tried it, but teaching it-aaaaaaaaaah! You are a goddess!
Oh ladies not a goddess by any stretch of the imagination. It is simply the fact that practice makes perfect. I even took the time make up step by step written and illustrated instructions so my trainees could have a handout to take home to look at as well as going over my verbal instructions in their heads. I had the written and the Illustrated instructions in hand going to my manager to show her the project I had done. I had time on my hands and nothing else to do so I decided to be productive when she waylaid me and ask me what I've been doing. Believe it or not I got in trouble for making up the worksheets to help my trainees because I have not got them pre-approved to start with. Where I used to work was absolutely the worst management I had ever worked under. Then of course there was one of the other 5 supervisor I work with who smirked at me as I came back in. So I knew very quickly who had gone to my manager and got me into the hot water that I was in. Is there any wonder why my MS got so much worse while I worked as the Section Supervisor position for Fayette County Schools. I had to get out before my MS consumed me to the stress my pitiful manager put me under! π π²π
Fancy1959 i would say I'm so glad to be out of that workplace beauracracy and politics but I'm amazed to find it among some of the places I volunteer now too!
I guess the difference is I have more freedom to ignore it or just leave.
I suppose people that do things like that are very unhappy people. Feel sorry for them perhaps more than angry.
But you are still my parking hero! π
I used to drive Schoolbuses and then went onto driving Transit Buses when we lived in Canada.
I was able to keep my Schoolbus at home and had to reverse it onto the driveway off a narrow road. I remember when I was training and told to weave around traffic cones in reverse I thought there's no way I'm going to be able to do it but it was surprisingly easy.
Loved driving buses.
I love your reply. I could do a parallel parking before even with a truck but now one thing I can't even get into a truck and I guess I won't go to that appointment LOL
Every time I drive I go through a checklist in my head:
1. Is my peripheral vision good enough today (sometimes it feels like the other lane is headed right for me.
2. Can I remember the way I'm going (I go through it in my head turn by turn)
3. Do I remember how to drive (honestly sometimes I'm not sure until I'm behind the wheel. So far I've always remembered.
4. Is it something I need to do or can I wait until my husband can drive me.
melack01 i can relate. My world has shrunken because of my self distrust driving too far, to new locations and not at night! π
