Jesmcd2 , mayestas this is just a picture that I found when I googled to show the difference from a Red Bellied but yes it is very beautiful.

15 years on my farm, and I heard many but saw this guy ONCE! Same with pileated... These two variety of woodpeckers are so majestic!!!

He is isn't he. I have seen them before but it has been a long time. My bird book say I saw it in Ohio in 1981 (I write when and where I saw it by the picture in my bird book) but I think I have seen it since then, just can't remember where.

What a beautiful bird . Canadian Geese just arrived on Merrymeeting Bay in Maine , they stop every Spring + Fall.

morilyn, it's Fancy1959. what an awesome picture. On our farm, I often hear the woodpecker's signature raatta tat tat while they chisle their way into a tree's bark in search for their next meal but they are hard to spot. Great shot! I guess I'll have to get my camera going so I can take pictures of our herds of deeer and the occasional wild turkey. Keep up the good work! I am glad you have found this awesome chat room,
