The full cause or causes of psoriasis are not yet fully understood. However certain factors such as skin injury, cold climate, Infections such as Strep, stress and bereavement may cause this skin condition in certain people, both male and female. If you feel there's an emotional aspect to your condition you may like to look into Bach flower remedies. (I had a friend who started to get psoriasis after losing a relative).

Yes, my husband lost his first wife in traumatic circumstances - they were in the middle of making love and rather than having an orgasm she was dying. His peripheral psoraisis began shortly after and the consultant says his is one of the worst cases she's come across. Luckily he it easy going in nature and not self-conscious because although it is fairly well controlled his hands especially can look an awful mess sometimes and of course he leaves pices of skin all over the carpets.
